The Ashland Police Department has received several calls about a phone scam in which the caller claims to be from American Electric Power stating a bill is past due and a truck is en route to disconnect the power.
The caller is giving a name such as “Carlos Menandez,” stating if the bill is paid quickly, he will waive the late fee and cancel the truck. The scammer is calling from (317) 493-5507.
AEP has been made aware of the scam. Those who receive the calls and are concerned about their bills may call the company.
