Fairview Family Fun Night set

Westwood — There will be plenty of activity in the area behind the Fairview High School gymnasium Thursday evening.

It will be Fairview Family Fun Night, a free event featuring games, health screenings, a talent show, family photos and chili, hot dogs, corn bread and drinks.

The event from 5 to 8 p.m. is sponsored by the Fairview Independent Board of Education, the Fairview Family Resource and Youth Services Center, Fairview’s 21st Century TEEN Scene and Fairview’s MSU Americorp members.

It is open for all in Westwood regardless of whether they have children in the Fairview schools.

Activities will include a cornhole tournament, a talent show featuring Fairview High School students, an obstacle course, a jump house and giant slide.

King’s Daughters Medical Center will do screenings for blood sugar, blood pressure, pulse and cholesterol, and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital’s Healthy Community Services will offer bone density screenings.

The Ashland-Boyd County Health Department will distribute information about smoking cessation, head lice, flu shots, cancer screenings and immunizations.

Other community organizations also have been invited to set up booths.

Terri Hood of Terri’s Takes will shoot family photos and give away 4-by-6 pictures.

Attendees should bring their own seating. In the event of rain, the event will be Oct. 15.
