OLIVE HILL — Kentucky State Police and the Olive Hill Police Department reported the ongoing investigation of a double homicide in the Mocabee Creek area Monday evening.
A third Carter County death, the shooting of a man near Grayson, was also reported on Monday by WUGO Radio of Grayson.
The double-homicide victims have been identified as Virginia Massard, 49, and Joseph Cox, 27. A statement released by the Kentucky State Police indicates both victims were discovered inside a residence, which other sources confirmed at 1438 Mocabee Creek Road, roughly eight miles from Olive Hill in the Soldier community of Carter County.
Carter Commonwealth’s Attorney David Flatt and state police were still working on the investigation late Monday evening, according to the prepared statement.
An autopsy has been scheduled for each of the homicide victims, although preliminary reports contained no details about the investigation or the crime scene. Both were pronounced dead by Carter County Deputy Coroner Ronnie Wallace shortly before noon Monday.
The investigation is being conducted by Detective Erik Kouns and more information will be provided as the investigation progresses, according to the state police statement.
WUGO also reported Monday that state police are investigating the shooting death of a man who lived on Anglin Branch off of Ky. 1, north of Grayson. No further details were available Monday evening.
