Teen injured in accident
CANNONSBURG - A Catlettsburg youth was hospitalized after crashing his car on Cannonsburg Road on Wednesday, the Boyd County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Joseph A. Graves Jr., 17, of the 2100 block of Center Street, was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital following the accident, a press release said.
Graves apparently lost control of his vehicle and ran it off the road into a ditch. He suffered multiple injuries, according to the release.
Special council meeting today
RACELAND - The Raceland City Council will have a special meeting at 3 p.m. today at the community center.
Christmas party set at Kyova mall
CANNONSBURG - Kyova Tri-State Mall & Lifestyle Center will host a community Christmas party from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday that will include shopping discounts.
There will be live entertainment and door prizes. Santa will arrive with the Cannonsburg Volunteer Fire Department at 5 p.m. Parents may take their own photos of their children with Santa at no charge.
Point of Origin and Faded will perform to raise toy and food donations for local families from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

'New Moon’ drawing slated
ASHLAND - The Phoenix 10 at the Kyova Tri-State Mall & Lifestyle Center will begin selling chances to win a lifesize cutout of “New Moon: The Twilight Saga” to benefit St. Jude’s Childhood Cancer Research at the midnight show on Thursday. The drawing will be Dec. 23.

Club to sponsor Santa breakfast
IRONTON
The Ironton Area Kiwanis Club will host Breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 5 at the American Electric Power building, 525 S. Third St.
The cost is $5 a person. Those younger than 2 are free. A picture with Santa is included.
Proceeds benefit the club’s scholarship program.
Cave tours ongoing at park
OLIVE HILL - Carter Caves State Resort Park continues to offer cave tours during the winter season in two caves.
Tours of Cascade Cave will be offered from 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. daily through April 2. Cascade is one of the largest of more than 200 caves in Carter County and is noted for its large chambers and numerous cave formations.
Highlights of the tour include the refecting pool in the Lake Room, unique cave formations in the Cathedral Room and an underground waterfall more than 30 feet. The tour lasts about 75 minutes and covers a walking distance of about 3/4 of a mile.
Ticket sales stop 15 minutes before Cascade Cave tours. A short drive from the welcome center is required and transportation is not provided.
Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for ages 3 through 12. Children younger than 3 are free.
Tours of X-Cave are offered at 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily through April 2. Tours begin at the welcome center.
X-cave has two vertical joint passages that meander through a large layer of limestone, which puts a participant close to many beautiful cave formations. Some of the highlighted features including turkey rock, the pipe organ and the giant column that is the largest cave formation found at the park.
The X-Cave tour covers about 1/4 of a mile and lasts about 45 minutes. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for ages 3 through 12. Children younger than 3 are free.
