WURTLAND — Wreath-making class Dec. 8

WURTLAND

A holiday wreath-making class using fresh, holiday greenery will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Greenup County Extension Office.

Cost is $12 per wreath. Lunch and refreshments are included in the cost. Checks may be made to Greenup County Extension and mailed to the office at Greenup County Extension Service, 35 Wurtland Ave., Wurtland KY 41144.

CANNONSBURG  

Boyd County Public Library will host a free showing of “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kyova branch.

Some refreshments are provided, and additional snacks can be purchased.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is planned  at Kyova Mall, with events Oct. 27 from noon to 10 p.m. and Oct. 28 from noon to 6 p.m.

Food vendors, crafts, inflatables, carnival, children’s photos with costumed characters, fire prevention shows with Cannonsburg Fire Department and sales at the mall are planned.

A pancake breakfast at Callihan’s American Pub and Grill will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be a songwriters workshop and luncheon at Callihan’s. Fee is $20. Registration may be made at (606) 585-0586.

8 p.m. — Stephen Salyers

9 p.m. — David Lee Murphy “Party Crowd” and “Dust on the Bottle”

Youth group

to offer bazaar

IRONTON

Ohio Furnace Baptist Church Youth Group will host its fourth annual Christmas craft bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 at the church fowship hall at 3132 Haverhill —Ohio Furnace Road.

Christmas decorations, trees, wreaths, primitives and other holiday items will be available. Vendors offering services also will be present.

Proceeds will go toward camp for the church youth group.

  • Not guilty plea in death of Boyd baby

    A Powell County teenager accused in the beating death of an infant pleaded not guilty to the charge Friday.
    Brett T. Thompson, 18, of Stanton was arraigned Friday in Boyd County Court.
    Thompson has been indicted in the death of 2-month-old Alivia Noel Worstell of Westwood. He was the boyfriend of the baby’s mother, Heather Worstell, 19.
