Greenup deputy hit by car

GREENUP — Greenup County Sheriff Deputy Ryan Houston was hit by a car Wednesday night and the suspect is in custody.

Houston’s injuries are to his legs and are non-life threatening, according to Kentucky State Police.

The deputy had pulled over the suspect for passing him on Ohio River Road. about 11 Wednesday night. When the deputy was approaching the vehicle, the suspect hit him with the car and then drove away from the scene with his lights off.

The Greenup Police Department caught up to the suspect a short time later and took him into custody, according to the Kentucky State Police. The suspect's name has not been released.
