IRONTON —
The Ironton Police Department is investigating a four-vehicle accident that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy Sunday.
Officers were called to the 2400 block of South Eighth Street at 8:02 a.m., according to a news release from the police department.
Officials determined the boy had been headed north in a 1995 GMC pickup truck when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a parked car that was then knocked into a yard. The truck continued to head north and hit a second parked vehicle that was knocked into a third parked vehicle.
The teen was trapped in the truck and had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life. He was transported to the St. Mary’s Medical Center Ironton Campus, where he was pronounced dead.
Agencies that assisted with the incident include the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ironton Fire Department and Lawrence County Emergency Medical Services.
Police were witholding the driver’s name pending notification of the family.
