ASHLAND —
The 51st annual Art in the Park exhibit and show is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 25 in Central Park.
In case of rain, the show will be at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center on Winchester Avenue.
Artists planning to compete may register from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. in the professional, non-professional, three-dimensional or photography category. Entry fee is $15 for eight pieces; additional pieces will be $5 each.
Any artist 18 or older in the Tri-State may enter original works of art suitable for family viewing, but not pieces that previously received awards from the Kentucky Creative Arts Club’s Art in the Park.
Among two-dimensional pieces, which must be matted and/or framed and ready to hand, categories are:
‰oil/acrylic — landscape-seascape-floral/miscellaneous
‰watercolor/acrylic — landscape-seascape-floral/miscellaneous
(For portraits, all media will be grouped except for photography and three-dimensional works.)
‰graphics/pastels/mixed media
‰special category: "Anything Audubon"
Exhibitors are to provide supports or easels for their work.
‰3-dimensional
First-place winners in two-dimensional categories will receive a ribbon and $25. There also will be second, third and honorable mentions awarded, as well as best of show for professional and non-professional categories. For three dimensional art, first place will receive a ribbon and $25; second, third and honorable mention will receive ribbons.
Members of the Kentucky Creative Arts Club will wear red T-shirts during the event and will assist anyone who needs it.
Those attending are encouraged to bring seating.

Judging will begin at noon by Samantha Mosby Belcher, who has a bachelor of fine arts degree in printmaking from West Virginia University, where she studied basic printmaking techniques and graduated in 2005. Her work focused on oil painting, intaglio, monoprint and serigraph printing. She also earned a master of fine arts degree in 2009 from the University of Georgia.
