Kentucky State Police on Friday arrested four Ashland residents who allegedly had marijuana shipped to them in the mail.
The KSP’s Ashland post said it received a tip that a package containing several pounds of pot had been shipped from Arizona to a residence in the 800 block of Bath Avenue.
On Friday, troopers from the Ashland post made a controlled delivery of the intercepted package. Search warrants were executed and about 11 pounds of marijuana were seized, along with various drug paraphernalia.
During the course of the investigation, the KSP said it learned the intended recipients of the package, Ervin T. Woods, 46, and Kenneth D. Wood, 45, lived in another residence in the 800 block of Bath.
Ervin and Kenneth Woods both were arrested, as were the two residents of the home where the package was delivered, Curtis A. Maynard, 32, and Ashley D. Leake, 28. All four suspects were charged with trafficking in marijuana, more than five pounds, and lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.
The United States Postal Inspection Service, KSP Canine Branch and Lawrence County, Ohio Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit Deputy Scott Wilson assisted with the investigation, which is ongoing by Detective Jeff Kelley.
