APD: Disability scooter stolen at Kroger

ASHLAND — The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:

Theft

‰A man on Tuesday reported the theft of an Invacare disability scooter from the sidewalk in front of Kroger. The device had been left unattended.

Hit and run

‰Police said the driver of a 1991 Ford Explorer involved in a collision with another vehicle Monday in the 1100 block of Winchester Avenue left the scene without checking on the other driver or providing insurance or personal information.

Burglary

‰A resident of the 2900 block of Central Avenue on Tuesday reported someone entered his garage and stole various hand and power tools, including a welder, reciprocating saw, generator, electric sander and chainsaw.

‰A man on Tuesday reported someone entered an outbuilding in the 2300 block of Sellars Street and stole a lawnmower, air conditioner, generator and stove cord.

Shoplifting

‰Walmart on Thursday reported the theft of merchandise totaling $3,099.94.

‰Two juveniles were arrested at J.C. Penney on Monday for allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $75.

    Carter County Public Library officials closed the sale Friday on what will be their new Grayson branch on Main Street downtown and proceeded immediately to show it off to some visitors.
    Following an impromptu ceremony outside at which former owners Barry and Lisa Stewart of Lexington turned over the keys to board chairwoman Barbara Davis, Davis led a tour of the Houck Building.

  • Not guilty plea in death of Boyd baby

    A Powell County teenager accused in the beating death of an infant pleaded not guilty to the charge Friday.
    Brett T. Thompson, 18, of Stanton was arraigned Friday in Boyd County Court.
    Thompson has been indicted in the death of 2-month-old Alivia Noel Worstell of Westwood. He was the boyfriend of the baby’s mother, Heather Worstell, 19.
