Rowan County’s dismantling of district foe Lawrence County last week, 46-0, boosts the Vikings back into The Independent’s Super 7 high school football rankings of northeastern Kentucky.
With the win, the Vikings (3-3, 1-1 in district play) set themselves up for a pivotal matchup at home against Boyd County on Oct. 24. The game could be for the district title depending on the outcome of the Lawrence County-Greenup County game, also on Oct. 24.
The No. 7 Vikings had fallen out of the Super 7 after three straight losses.
No. 1 Johnson Central was on a bye last week while No. 2 Raceland, No. 3 Ashland and No. 4 Russell all won.
No. 5 Fairview was also on a bye while No. 6 Boyd County beat Greenup County 13-0.
