Prep soccer roundup: Ashland second at Bourbon County

PARIS —  Ashland’s girls soccer team finished runner-up at the Bourbon County Tournament last weekend and had four players named to the All-Tournament team.

Nicole Belville, Tori Jackson, Desirae Hamlin and Kristen Moore represented the Ladycats.

Ashland knocked off Bourbon County 4-0 with Belville scoring two goals and Moore supplying a goal and assist. Sarah Hudson also scored for Ashland, while Mikayla Collins had two assists.

The Ladycats lost 5-1 to 14th-ranked Ohio County with Lucy Davis providing Ashland’s scoring on a penalty kick. Also, Ashland dropped a 4-2 game against Covington Holy Cross that didn’t count in the tournament standings. Hamilin and Belville each scored a goal.

 

Russell 1,

Beechwood 1

FLATWOODS Russell’s Becky Legenza scored on an assist from Ashley Huffine as the Lady Devils battled to a tie against Beechwood on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Elizabeth Floyd had 10 saves for Russell, which posted a 21-13 advantage in shots.

Russell 5,

Bath County 1

FLATWOODS Chase Bates tallied three of Russell’s five first-half goals against Bath County on Saturday.

Brad Gross and Grant McKenzie also scored the the Red Devils, who received assists from Austin Christie, Matthew Fried and Joey Fischer.

Russell outshot Bath County 23-9 and got six saves from goalkeeper Jonathan Fullen.
