Boyd County piled up seven runs in the third inning as the Lions coasted by West Carter, 8-3, on Tuesday night at Larry Addington Field.
Billy McCoy picked up the pitching victory, giving up two runs in five innings.
Robbie Shivel, Matt Blakeley and Trey Salisbury each had a perfect night at the plate as the Lions improved to 5-2. Shivel was 3-for-3 with an RBI, Blakeley 2-for-2 with an RBI and Salisbury 1-for-1 with a two-run double.

ASHLAND Evan Yongue tossed a complete game shutout and Ashland posted an easy 10-run win over Ironton on Tuesday at Ashland Alumni Field.
Yongue had six strikeouts in six innings, and he gave up six hits. He also allowed one free pass and hit two batters.
Ashland (2-1) enjoyed a six-run second inning to separate itself from Ironton.
Logan Salow went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and scored twice. Joe Stewart was 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored once. Cody Conley went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Yongue was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

CANNONSBURG Caitlin Coburn pitched for the first time in a year, and while she only faced seven batters, Boyd County Geoff Stewart was pleased with that as much as anything else as his Lady Lions routed Fairview on Tuesday.
“She looked really sharp,” Stewart said. “It was her first look in almost a year.”
Boyd County (3-0) racked up 12 runs in the second inning alone as it put away Fairview in four innings.
Of the Lady Lions’ 18 hits, just one was for extra bases — Taylor Wheeler tagged a double.
Kaitlin Brown was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Wheeler (three RBIs), Nicole Goins (two RBIs) and Taylor Newsome (two RBIs) had three hits apiece.
Stephanie May and Bri Crooks tallied two hits apiece.
