PREP ROUNDUP: Lady Devils use long ball to beat West

OLIVE HILL — Russell’s girls drilled 12 3-pointers en route to a 69-52 defeat of West Carter on Monday night at John “Hop” Brown Court.

The Lady Devils’ Lexi Berry poured in five 3s on her way to a game-high 23 points. Hope Parsley added 13 points.

Brooke Callihan led West Carter (8-11) with 18 points.

INEZ Boyd County came away from Sheldon Clark with a hard-fought five-point victory on Monday night.

Logan Fraley paced the Lady Lions (16-7) with 14 points. Taylor Wheeler had 10 and Emily Stewart tallied nine.

Boyd County trailed the Lady Cardinals (13-5) by one at halftime before outscoring them 11-4 in the third period.

LOUISA Taylor Porter scored 21 points and Savannah Cyrus had 15 as the Lady Bulldogs downed the defending 15th Region champions on Monday.

Cyrus was 7 for 8 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to help seal the win as Lawrence County moved to 15-6 on the season. Ashleigh Adkins, a sophomore, contributed 14 rebounds.

Magoffin County fell to 11-9.

OWINGSVILLE Bath County held Morgan County to a season-low offensive output as the Lady Cats notched their first victory over the Lady Cougars since 2005.

Sarah Price tallied a game-best 14 points, eight rebounds and five blocks. Taylor Rogers chipped in 11 points. Bath County is now 12-6.

Morgan County (5-14) had no scorer with more than two points. The Lady Cougars were 3 of 31 from the field.

RACELAND Lewis County picked up its 11th win by defeating Raceland last Wednesday.

Jaycey Fite made four 3-pointers to account for all 12 of her points for the Lady Lions (11-8). Tori led the team with 14 points and Savannah Anderson added 11.

Lewis County led 32-24 at halftime and 45-34 after three quarters.

Raceland’s Savannah Mackie put in 15 points on five 3-pointers and Savannah Cotton scored 10.

    Two bunts and a swinging bunt helped the Lady Musketeers scratch across three runs in the fifth inning of a 6-2 victory over Raceland in the 63rd District Tournament opening round on Monday night at Russell High School. Top-seeded Russell defeated Lewis County, also 6-2, earlier in the evening.
