CAMPBELLSVILLE
Raceland rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat Campbellsville 23-20 on Friday night in the second round of the Class A playoffs.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Rams (8-4) struck first when Bobby McKee’s 20-yard punt return set up a Tyler Farley-to-McKee 23-yard connection. McKee finished with five receptions for 129 yards.
Rocky Jobe’s 25-yard field goal put Raceland up 10-0 with 6:04 left in the half.
Campbellsville (8-4) put together three first downs to set up a Thomas Downs’ score with 1:27 left before intermission and then used the first of three Bryton Taylor interceptions to take a 14-10 halftime edge.
Aaron Schwoebel connected with Taylor from 23 yards out and then dove over the right end for the two-point conversion.
The Eagles went up 20-10 when Taylor picked off a Ram halfback pass and scampered 61 yards to the end zone.
Early in the final quarter, Campbellsville appeared ready to deliver the knockout punch.
After converting a first down deep in their own territory, the Eagles went to the air and Loren Huffman picked off Schwoebel’s pass and went 35 yards down the middle for a score. Jobe’s extra point pulled the Rams to within 20-17.
Raceland held Campbellsville on downs and, after a penalty, went 63 yards in four plays to score the game-winner at 4:49.
Farley hit Huffman for 15 yards before keeping left for a 20-yard pick-up. Ralph Burchett then went 29 yards for the go-ahead TD.
