GREENUP — The 16th annual Silver Gloves Tournament took place last Saturday at Greenup County High School with 13 bouts and three demonstration bouts.
Charlie Hanshaw, coach of Westwood Boys and Girls Club, deemed it a success.
“A special thanks to all that participated and help make this year’s Silver Gloves a great sucess and took time out to work with the kids,” he said.
Hanshaw also thanked Greenup County High School for being the host for the event.
Aaron Hanshaw, one of Saturday’s winners, said, “It felt great to get back in the ring and win after taking a year long break.”
There were a total of 13 bouts with three demonstration bouts that are not scored. Winners from Westwood Boys and Girls Club boxers include Courtney Stevens, Cody Vanbibber, Eric Worthington, Dillon Vanbibber, Aaron Hanshaw, Kyle Gibson and Marcus Worthington.
The next event is scheduled for the Chesapeake Brawl, a Southern Ohio boxing event open to local boxing gyms on Dec. 12.
