ASHLAND —
Perfection is sooooo overrated.
After starting the season 7-0, my toes are hurting this week from being stubbed not once, but twice in Week 2.
Double ouch!
Greenup County and Rowan County each now have my full attention.
This week we have a few more area high school football games that are difficult to predict including Pike Central-Boyd, Rowan County-Estill County, West Carter-Nicholas County and Magoffin County-Paintsville which, frankly, may be the toughest one of all to call.
Here’s to getting back to perfect.
-Ashland 32, Belfry 14: Tomcats fall a touchdown shy of 44-point average but make the Pirates walk the plank. Arrrrr.
-Pike Central 28, Boyd County 21: First home game for the Lions but results are the same. Hawks fly out with win.
-Ironton 28, Russell 3: Red Devils go two in a row without a touchdown as they look for some offensive consistency.
-Rowan County 21, Estill County 18: Vikings have convinced me they can win on the road.
-Fairview 21, East Carter 6: There will be no repeat of last year’s Raider upset.
-Lewis County 28, Bath County 6: Lions get off to a rare 2-0 start to build even more confidence.
-Johnson Central 31, Knox Central 14: Look for the Golden Eagles to keep it rolling.
-West Carter 28, Nicholas County 24: Comets have bounced back well from season-opening heartbreaker.
-Lawrence County 42, Shelby Valley 22: Bulldogs right on pace with plenty of punch.
-Raceland 27, Fleming County 13: Rams need a win and they get it at home against the Panthers.
-Paintsville 29, Magoffin County 28: It’s time for the Tigers to get one after rough start to the season.
-Greenup County 34, Notre Dame 13: Musketeers’ run game is for real. Notre Dame gets a taste of it Saturday.
