The Ashland VolleyCats defeated South Point on Tuesday night in three straight sets behind the play of Jordan Hensley and Emily Preece.
Hensley tallied six aces, two kills and seven assists and Preece had five kills, three aces and two blocks.
Ashland, which has won eight straight matches, trailed South Point in the first set but rallied to take a 25-17 victory. The VolleyCats won the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-21.
Abbey Card, Ashland’s setter, finished the match with seven assists. Noell Conley added three aces.
According to Ashland coach Jeffrey Huff, Madison Ryan was key in the second set as she had two kills that ended South Point rallies.
Ashland travels to East Carter on Thursday, and then competes Friday and Saturday in Lexington in Lafayette's Thoroughbred Smash, a 24-team tournament held at the Kentucky Basketball Academy.
