Wiggins, Huntington Prep playing at Boyd Saturday

SUMMIT — Naismith National Player of the Year Andrew Wiggins and Huntington Prep will be playing Saturday afternoon at Boyd County Middle School.

Huntington Prep meets United Leadership Academy of Canada at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8.

“We wanted to give Kentucky fans one last look (at Wiggins),” coach Rob Fulford told the Herald-Leader.

This game replaces Huntington Prep’s recently canceled matchup in Louisville with Montverde Academy.

It will be the sixth time Wiggins and Huntington Prep have played in Kentucky. The Express defeated United Leadership Academy 81-52 last week in Canada, the home country of Wiggins and several other players on Huntington’s roster.

Wiggins has narrowed his list of schools to Kentucky, Florida State, North Carolina and Kansas. He made an official visit to UK on Wednesday.

Fairview senior Kennedy Womack wasn’t her consistent self in Saturday morning’s state tennis semifinals at the University of Kentucky’s Hilary Boone Tennis Complex.
As a result, the top seed fell to Lexington Sayre sophomore Madeline Rolph 6-1, 6-0.
Womack was obviously disappointed with her finish, especially after losing in last year’s state finals, but she was happy for her good friend Rolph.
