Ernest Ray Fannin (1927-2009)

Ernest Ray Fannin, 82, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center.

Mr. Fannin was born March 3, 1927, in Paintsville, Ky., a son of the late Henry Fannin and Callie Collins Fannin.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Ward Fannin, on May 11, 2007; and a son, Kenneth Ray Fannin.

He was a retired slitter shear operator with AK Steel and a member of Eagles Lodge 895 and Moose Lodge 701, both of Ironton, Ohio.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Faye (John) Lyons of Ashland; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a half brother, Bob Cantrell of Sitka, Ky.; a sister, Martha Alice Gamble of Walton, Ky.; and a half sister, Kathleen Murray of Paintsville, Ky.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today, July 2, 2009, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by Chaplain Jimm Smedley. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.



Ryan Allen Dickerson (1986-2009)

Ryan Allen Dickerson, 22, of Flatwoods, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 29, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 25, 1986, in Camden, N.J., a son of Peggy Majors McDowell of Flatwoods and Larry Dickerson of Bellville, Ohio.

Ryan was a service technician for C & H Heating & Air Conditioning in Flatwoods.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Paul Maile IV of Louisville, Ky.; his stepfather, Kenny McDowell; his stepmother, Dawn Dickerson; and his paternal grandparents, Jack and Jane Dickerson of South Shore, Ky.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, July 2, 2009, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., by Tim French. Burial will be in Caroline Cemetery in Raceland.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. at the funeral home.



Shirley Ferguson (1938-2009)

Shirley Anne Ferguson, 71, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Ashland, died Friday at her residence.

She was born May 8, 1938, in Ashland.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Malone Funeral Home in Grayson is in charge of arrangements.



Clyde Ross

Clyde Ross of Rush died Wednesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

His wife, Glenna Ross, survives.

Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.

Boone Roberts

Boone Roberts, 76, of South Shore, died Wednesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.



Ruth Crowder (1924-2009)

Ruth Potter Crowder, 84, of Portsmouth, Ohio, died Monday in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Portsmouth.

Her husband, Norman Crowder Jr., died in 1968.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore. Burial will be in Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.



Richard Dillow

Richard Paul Dillow, 87, of South Shore, died Wednesday in Edgewood Manor and Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center in Lucasville, Ohio.

Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.



Faye Sparks (1945-2009)

Faye C. Sparks, 63, of Grayson, died Tuesday in Pleasant Hill Nursing Home in Piketon, Ohio.

She was born Sept. 20, 1945, in Olive Hill.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson. Burial will be in Garvin Ridge Cemetery.

Amy Davis (1979-2009)

Amy Davis, 29, of Jeffersonville, died Monday at her residence.

She was born Sept. 24, 1979.

Donna Mae Phipps Montgomery, 81, of Salyersville, died Tuesday.

Earnest “Honeybee” May, 72, of West Liberty, died Tuesday in Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty.

His wife, Barbara Sue Brown May, survives.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in May Cemetery in Woodsbend.

Jimmie Fultz (1940-2009)

Jimmie Fultz, 68, of Morehead, died Tuesday in Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

He was born Aug. 19, 1940.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery.

Gary Ratliff, 48, died in Morgan County.

He was born Jan. 11, 1961, in Hazard.

He was the husband of Sheri Ratliff.

She was born Feb. 14, 1931, in Wilgus.

Her husband, Jason E. Fry, preceded her in death.
