Clyde Ross (1935-2009)

Clyde Ross of Rush, Ky., now stands in the presence of his Lord and Savior after his passing on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Mr. Ross was 73 years of age, born July 31, 1935, in Rush, a son of the late Paul and Edna Bolt Ross.

Clyde retired in 1994 as a road foreman after 25 years with the Boyd County Road Department and was a member of Ross Chapel, where he was Sunday school superintendent. He was a past board member of the East Fork Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid sports fan, passionately following UK, the Reds and Bengals, and enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

Surviving is a loving family including his wife of 53 years, Glenna Harper Ross; a daughter, Connie Besco of Catlettsburg; four sons, Gary Ross and Kenny Ross, both of Rush, Tom Ross and his wife, Dona Beth, and Richard Ross and his wife, Esta, all of Catlettsburg; a brother, Tom Ross of Ashland; three sisters, Wanda Lou Henry of Catlettsburg, Jeanette Howard of Plain City, Ohio, and Dorothy Morgan of Cocoa, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Melissa, Robert, Brett, Mary Nekeshia, Sam, Jenny, Paul and Joseph; and nine great-grandchildren, Alexis, Evan, Caleb, Brendon, Kenneth, Brook, Tommy Lee, Kasey and Jade.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Ross and Hanley Ross; and three sisters, Pauline Yakley, Phyllis David and Mary Sue Comstock.

A funeral service to honor the life of Clyde Ross will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Ross Chapel in Rush. A message of comfort and reassurance will be offered by Pastor David Porter, with a heartfelt eulogy from Brother Ralph Harper. Final rest will follow a solemn committal at Ross Cemetery. Sons and grandsons will serve as casket bearers.

Those wishing to call on the Ross family may do so between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. today at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg and an hour before services at the church.



Infant Jade Lane Johnson

Infant Jade Lane Johnson passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Jade was the infant of Shawn Rumer and Shawna Johnson of Greenup.

Surviving are two brothers, Cory Johnson and Devon Johnson; a sister, Alexis Johnson; maternal grandparents Craig and Marilyn Johnson of Galena, Ill.; paternal grandmother Carman Mays of Springfield, Ohio; paternal great-grandparents Bob and Trudy Mays of Bellefontaine, Ohio; an aunt, Kayla Collett of Springfield; and a great-aunt, Tasha Mays of Bellefontaine.

There will be no services.

Reed Funeral Home in Greenup is in charge of arrangements.



Lisa Ann Blevins Crockett (1973-2009)

Lisa Ann Blevins Crockett, 36, of Elliott County, formerly of Hitchins, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, as the result of an MVA.

She was born April 30, 1973, in Ashland, Ky., the daughter of Robert Griffith of Grayson, Ky., and Donna Hall Rogers and stepfather David Lawson of Hitchins.

She was a homemaker and member of Tri-State Temple in Cannonsburg.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Ernest A. Crockett; four children, Helen Brown of Elliott County, Kyle D., Isaiah J. and Layla M. Brown, all of Westwood, Ky.; a brother, Daniel Griffith of Hitchins; and two sisters, Jackie Greer of Rush and Misty Crockett of Elliott County.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook with Brother Larry Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Crockett Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.



E.H. “Pat” Evans (1935-2009)

E.H. “Pat” Evans, 74, of Sandy Hook, Ky., passed away Wednesday as the result of an MVA.

He was born June 30, 1935, in Elliott County, the son of the late David Van and Eliza Bell Robinson Evans. He was also preceded in death by three children, James Crockett and Shelby and Shelton Evans, and a brother, Arthur Evans.

He was a laborer at General Refractories and of the Baptist faith.

Pat is survived by his wife, Fay Knipp Evans; a daughter, Pam Gollihue of Elliott County; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, David “Red” Evans of Elliott County and Bo Evans and Billy Jean Evans, both of Grayson; and five sisters, Eloise Messer, Alma Bowling, Cloma Jordon, Gretta Van Adams and Edith Star Jones, all of Grayson, Ky.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook with Lester Bowling officiating. Burial will be in Evans-Gollihue Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Matthew Loudenback (1976-2009)

Matthew Allen Loudenback, 33, of Ashland, died Thursday at his residence.

Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.



Jessie Youngstrom (1926-2009)

Jessie L. Johnson Youngstrom, 83, of Sapulpa, Okla., formerly of Ashland, died Wednesday in Sapulpa.

She was born April 10, 1926.

Her husband, Oliver Youngstrom, survives.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa. Burial will be in Sapulpa South Heights Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Salvation Army.



Lenora Thomas

Lenora Y. Thomas, 57, of Ashland, died Thursday.

Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.



Richard Dillow (1921-2009)

Richard Paul Dillow, 87, of South Shore, died Wednesday in Edgewood Manor Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center in Lucasville, Ohio.

He was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Sciotoville, Ohio.

His wife, Beulah Brown Dillow, survives.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore. Burial will be in Bennett’s Chapel Cemetery in South Shore with military rites by James L. Flannery American Legion Post 276 of South Shore.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and at noon Sunday at the funeral home.



Fred Marcum

Fred Marcum, 77, of Hitchins, died Thursday at his residence.

Beatrice “Bea” Combs (1922-2009)

Beatrice “Bea” Castle Combs, 86, of Wayland, wife of the late Virgil Combs, died Wednesday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.

She was born July 17, 1922, in Johnson County.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery in Wayland.



Brayden Hill

Brayden Lee Hill, infant son of Christopher Hoke and Kimberly Hill, died Tuesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Porter Family Cemetery in Inez.

Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville is in charge of arrangements.



Jolly Howard

Jolly Howard, 72, of Sal-yersville, died Wednesday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Magoffin County Funeral Home in Salyersville.



Nola Sizemore (1938-2009)

Nola Mae Sizemore, 70, of Ironton, died Wednesday.

She was born Sept. 14, 1938, in Lawrence County.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery.
