Clarence Herbert Fairchild - 1929-2012

RACELAND — Clarence Herbert Fairchild, 83, of Raceland, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, where he is now rejoicing in Heaven’s garden with his Lord and Savior.

Clarence was born June 29, 1929, in Naples, to the late John Elliot Fairchild and Martha Pennington Fairchild Daniels. Mr. Fairchild was a carman for C&O Railroad, retiring after 30 years of service. He was also a member of Worthington Nazarene Church. Mr. Fairchild loved to fish, garden with his wife and drive around viewing God’s beautiful creations of nature and animals.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lindsey Daniels; brothers, Charles, Earl, Ray, Johnny and Tommy Fairchild; sister, Imogene Sexton; one great-granddaughter; and sisters-in-law, Betty Fairchild and Mildred Fairchild.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Loretta Bonzo Fairchild; sons, Ralph and Kathy Fairchild of Worthington, Richard and Louella Fairchild of Catlettsburg, David and Rebecca Fairchild of Raceland, Kenneth Fairchild of Raceland, Lloyd and Paula Bonzo of Prudonville, Mich. and Jim and Patti Bonzo of Biloxi, Miss.; daughter, Carolyn and Carl Vandebogart of Ypsilanti, Mich.; brothers; Clifford (Rosemary) Fairchild of Detroit Mich., Vernon (Ruth) Fairchild of Connersville, Ind., Lawerence (Orlanais) Fairchild of Sommerset and Edgel Fairchild of Jackson, Ohio; sister-in-law, Alice Fairchild; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the Worthington Nazarene Church with comforting words delivered by Pastor Paul Neal. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 8, 2012, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.
