George Glenn Pelfrey
George Glenn Pelfrey, 81, of Gainesville, Fla., passed away Jan. 23, 2010, at his daughter’s home in Douglasville, Ga.
Mr. Pelfrey was born in Hazel Green, Ky., and moved to Gainesville in 1985 from Houston, Texas.
He graduated from Ashland High School in 1947 and Emory and Henry College in Meadowview, Va. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War. He retired from IBM after 29 years and also worked for C&O; Railroad for more than three years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane S. Pelfrey; three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by a daughter, Glyn Louise Pelfrey Earnhart (Jerry) of Atlanta; son, Gregg Malcolm Pelfrey (Sharon) of Gainesville; grandchildren, Janet Earnhart Mayo (Matthew), Shanna Earnhart and Gregg J. Pelfrey (Angela) and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home in Gainesville.

Essie Mae Boggs Isaacs - 1918-2010
Essie Mae Boggs Isaacs, 92, of Grayson, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 27, 2010 in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Carter County, to the union of Rand and Rebecca Murphy Boggs. Mrs. Isaacs was a retired bookkeeper with the former Grizzell Market.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Isaacs; one son, Charles Randolph Isaacs; four brothers, John Blackie Boggs, Todd Boggs, Sanford Boggs and Hughie J. Boggs; and three sisters, Belva Shepherd, Martha Belle Dickerson and Margaret Boggs.
She is survived by one son, Henry L. (Jo Ann) Isaacs of Grayson; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Edna Isaacs of Grayson; two sisters, Minnie Womack and Hattie Bair, both of Grayson; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to these she is also survived by a special chihuahua, Little Buddy.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 30, 2010 at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by George Ronnie Boggs. Burial will follow in East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Carl Isaacs, Tim Isaacs, David Isaacs, Henry Isaacs, Danny Isaacs, J.T. Raybourn and Joel Mosier.

Charles William Baier - 1942-2010
Charles William Baier, 67, of Grayson, died Thursday evening, Jan. 28, 2010, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born April 8, 1942, in Carter County, to the union of Howard and Susan Seagraves Baier. Charles was retired from General Refractories and of the United Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother Ronnie Baier; and one sister, Saundra Baier.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Hayes Baier; two sons, Greg Baier and Jeff (Gwen) Baier of Grayson; three brothers, James, Lewis, and Pierce Baier, all of Grayson; and four sisters, Gayle Sparks of Grayson, Patty Smith of Oldtown, Evelyn Hall of Olive Hill, and Kristi Young of Ashland. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Brandon, Shane, Gabriel, and Saundra; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Tyler, and Shaylynn.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Austin Knipp, Eury Barker, and Zora Adkins. Burial will follow in the Edison Cemetery.

Fred W. Nall, 90, of Ashland, died Thursday in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
He was born June 21, 1919, in Island.
His wife, Mary Evelyn Nall, survives.
