Nick B. Jones (1939-2010)

Nck B. Jones, 70, of Ashland, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born Aug. 2, 1939, in Olive Hill, to the late Allison J. “Chuck” Jones and Dorothy Clay Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Janet Hart Jones of Ashland.

He was an Air Force veteran and owner and proprietor of Nick B. Jones Services for 35 years. He was a member of Pollard Baptist Church, a Past Master of Poage Masonic Lodge 325 and a former Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 112. He was a Kentucky colonel.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcella Kaye Smith, in 2002, four brothers and a sister.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Nick B. Jones II (Rachel) of Ashland; five daughters, Mella Trimble (Jimmy) of Pikeville, Ky., Cindy Ball (Bill Fleming) of Coal Grove, Ohio, Susan Fannin (Paul) of Ashland, Frankie Stormes (Mike) of Ashland and Jeanie Marsden (Andy) of Pedro, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Charles Shields. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.

Leatha A. Nolty (1919-2010)

Leatha A. Nolty, 90, of Grayson, Ky., passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky., following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 3, 1919, in Carter County at Eby, to the late Elmer and Anna McGlone Stamper. She was a homemaker and a member of New Beginnings Assembly of God in Grayson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Claude M. Nolty; four sisters, May Lesson, Edna Smith, Ada Adkins and Iola Sexton; a brother, Raymond Stamper; a half brother, Stanley Stamper; and a half sister, Betty Lou Thompson.

She is survived by two sons, Roger L. Nolty of Grayson and Claude E. (Diana) Nolty of Columbia Station, Ohio; a sister, Lillian (Earl) Greer of Grayson; a half brother, Everett Stamper of Quincy, Ky.; two grandchildren, Doreen M. Dacre of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, and Craig E. Nolty of North Ridgeville, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Jared M. Dacre and Nolan C. Dacre; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at New Beginnings Assembly of God in Grayson by Kyle Burchett. Burial will be in Richardson Cemetery in Lewis County, Ky.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 1, 2010, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Orville May (1914-2010)

Orville May, 95, of Blaine, Ky., passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, in J.J. Jordan Geriatric Center in Louisa, Ky.

He was born May 16, 1914, in Cherokee, Ky., to the late Albert and Myrtie Kitchen May. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and mechanic for the Kentucky Department of Transportation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Carter May, in 2001 and a daughter, Roberta C. Young.

Surviving are a daughter, Mable M. Cooper of Louisa, Ky.; four grandchildren, Edward (Rowena) Borders of Webbville, Ky., Michael W. (Christy) Cooper of Louisa, Carson (Ida) Young of Webbville and Peggy (Ron) Lewis of Sandy Hook, Ky.; and two great-grandchildren, Renea (Eddie) Callihan of Morehead, Ky., and Payton Cole Cooper of Louisa.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Young Funeral Home in Louisa by the Rev. James Webster. Burial will be in Yatesville Memorial Gardens in Louisa.

Roger Kenneth Caudill (1939-2010)

Roger Kenneth Caudill, 71, of Flatgap, died Friday at his residence.

He was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Johnson County.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Lemaster/Harris Cemetery in Flatgap.

George Benny Cantrell (1950-2010)

George Benny Cantrell, 60, of Pikeville, died Friday in Pikeville Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 23, 1950, and was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Cantrell.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the Blessed Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Shelbiana. Entombment will be in J.U. Thacker Mausoleum in Annie E. Young Cemetery at Chloe.

Thacker Funeral Home in Pikeville is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Blessed Hope Free Will Baptist Church.



The Rev. J.F. “June” Hunt (1948-2010)

The Rev. J.F. “June” Hunt, 61, of Owingsville, died Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling.

He was born Jan. 30, 2010, and his wife, Toni G. Bailey Hunt, survives.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pauline Spears Bowling

Pauline Spears Bowling, 95, of Wheelersburg, died Sunday in Hillview Retirement Center in Portsmouth.

Her husband, Jesse Bowling, preceded her in death.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland.



Wilma J. Ferguson

Wilma J. Ferguson, 76, of Huntington, died Saturday in Emogene Dolin-Jones Hospice House in Huntington.

Her husband, Irvin Ferguson, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beard Mortuary. Burial will be in Morrison’s Cemetery.
