Tony Hedrick (1969-2009)

William Anthony “Tony” Hedrick of Catlettsburg passed away early Saturday morning Sept. 12, 2009, following a very brief illness at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Tony celebrated his 40th birthday on Aug. 18, 2009. Born in Ashland, Tony was the third son of loving parents Ruth Cossett Hedrick and the late Mick Hedrick. Ruth and Mick raised their boys on Broadway in Catlettsburg. The C&O; lot, the old mill, Wellman’s Cash Grocery and Catlettsburg’s fire station were the usual hang outs. Tony was a Boyd County High graduate class of ’87, and ACTC’s Applied Process Technologies program.

Tony enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and quiet times, fitting for his laid back nature and good heart. He was a master electrician/contractor and owner operator of Hedrick’s Electrical Service. His memberships include BPOE 942, Ashland Moose and American Legion-Elwood Stringer Post 325. As an avid Wildcat fan, Tony could be found “Naturally” in the blue lot at Commonwealth Stadium with his Gate City Tailgating buddies. He loved his job, he loved his family and was a wonderful husband to his beautiful wife of 16 years, Leslie Wellman-Hedrick, and wonderful father to his son Chad, 13, a freshman at Blazer and his daughter Hollie, 7, a second grader at Hager Elementary. Tony leaves behind three brothers, Charles Phillip Hedrick, Michael Lee Hedrick, his wife Angela and Patrick Magann Hedrick, all of Catlettsburg; an adopted brother Chris Dailey, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and more friends than could be counted! Preceding him in death are Tony’s maternal grandparents Charles and Helen Cossett and paternal grandparents Elwood and Madeline Hedrick.

To remember and honor this young son, husband, and father a service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Kelly Harper and Marty Gute will both deliver eulogies. Tony’s final rest is to be beside his dad at Catlettsburg Cemetery. Those wishing to call on the Hedrick family may do so this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Chad and Hollie Hedrick Memorial Trust c/o KY Farmers Bank, 2500 Broadway Catlettsburg, KY 41129 or the children’s fund of your choice.
