Leonard “Fish” Earl Hamilton - 1949-2012

WORTHINGTON — Leonard “Fish” Earl Hamilton, 63 of Worthington, passed away on Oct. 4, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland with his loving family at his side.

Leonard was born in Wurtland, on April 18, 1949, to the late Mack D. and Mary Riffe Hamilton Sr.

He worked as an installer for General Heating and Air Conditioning and most recently for Ashland Furnace Co. Mr. Hamilton served his country honorably in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion in Flatwoods and was a huge fan and major supporter of Russell and Raceland Athletics. Leonard was a faithful servant to his Lord and was a member of the Wurtland Church of God. His favorite hobby was fishing but spending time with his family especially his grandchildren took top priority, even over fishing.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Boggs and Phyllis Hamilton.

Leonard leaves behind a caring and compassionate family including his devoted wife, Connie Sue Callihan-Hamilton of Worthington; one son, Timmy Earl Hamilton and his wife Mashawan of Wurtland; one daughter, Charon Fannin and her husband Gary of Worthington; three brothers, Charlie Hamilton, Virgil Hamilton and Mack “Blackie” Hamilton, all of Wurtland; two sisters, Frances Vanderhoof of Flatwoods and Janet Simpson of Wurtland as well as four grandchildren, Elijah and Emma Hamilton and Parker and Carly Fannin.

Funeral services will be at Wurtland Church of God, 3394 State Route 503, Wurtland, KY 41144 on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Henry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County with military honors by the American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the church on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 from 6 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wurtland Church of God Bus Ministry.
