Lloyd Moore - 1944-2008
Lloyd Moore, 63, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday afternoon, June 12, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born June 24, 1944, in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Wickliff and Mollie Patton Moore.
He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Karen Hall Moore of Ashland; a son, David Moore and wife Terry of Lexington, Ky.; two daughters, Dana King of Greensboro, N.C., and Melissa Moore of Ashland; a brother, Wickliff Moore Jr. of Lexington; two sisters, Ruth Mason of Morristown, Tenn., and Monie James of Ashland; grandchildren Olivia, Emily and Aaron Moore, Kayla and Kyle DeBoard, Andrew Fairchild, Jennifer Moore and Micah Talbert; and a great-grandchild, Keegan Fairchild.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Mike Rice. Entombment will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Richard G. Wolbert
Richard Gerard Wolbert, 57, of South Shore, Ky., a former resident of Imperial, Pa., died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born in Sewickley, Pa., a son of Laura Drugmand Wolbert and the late William Wolbert.
He was a human resources manager for Sunoco Inc. in Haverhill, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Denise Russell Wolbert of South Shore; a son, William Adam Wolbert of Imperial; a daughter, Jessica Elizabeth Wolbert of Tampa, Fla.; and two brothers, William Daryl Wolbert of Imperial and Jeffrey Curtis Wolbert of Salem, Ohio.
A viewing and service was at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore on June 12, 2008. A wake will be at the convenience of the family at the home of William Russell in Monroeville, Pa.
Charles E. Barker - 1939-2008
Charles E. Barker, 69, of Flatwoods, Ky., died June 11, 2008, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1939, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Herbert and Verna Clark Barker.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Barker.
He was employed in maintenance with 5/3 Bank.
Surviving are his wife, Wesalene Wheeler Barker of Flatwoods; sons Bruce (Alicia) Barker of Ashland and Anthony (Jodi) Barker of Proctorville, Ohio; daughter Cheryl DeBorde of Raceland, Ky.; six grandchildren, Amanda (Jonathan) Vogt, Emily DeBorde, Laura Barker, Elizabeth Barker, Emma Barker and Elaina Barker; and sisters Patty (Jim) Miller of Cincinnati, Gail (Glen) White of Lake City, Fla., and Jo Virgin of Flatwoods.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Todd Parsley, minister. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery in Ashland.

Dixie Ransbottom - 1918-2008
Dixie Oney Ransbottom of Wurtland, Ky., went to be with God on Thursday morning in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Dixie was 89 years of age but was young in Christ. She gave her life to God in 2005.
She was born Dec. 27, 1918, in Fargo, Ky., to the late Richard J. and Margaret Lydia Sturgill Oney. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Otis and Elba W. Oney, and three sisters, Meck F. Litteral, Dollie Young and Nancy Potts.
Dixie worked as a Rosie the Riveter at Wright Patterson Air Force Base during World War II. She worked for the Wilson Sporting Goods Factory in Ironton, Ohio, for many years.
Dixie was a lifelong resident of Wurtland. She was best known in the community for running the Snack Bar across from the old Wurtland High School from 1964 through 1975. She held much pleasure in offering a meeting place for the kids. She often counted these years as some of the happiest of her life. She not only served up the best hot dogs in the area but acted as a sounding board and confidant to a whole generation of Wurtland youth.
Dixie is survived by a son, Richard Charles and Cindy Kay Ransbottom of Wurtland; and a niece, Norma Frances Holden of Sodona, Ariz. Dixie has a granddaughter, Carole Hunt, and two great-grandchildren, Levi and Mackenzie Hunt, all of Wurtland.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Dr. Manfred Langer and Pastor Bob Hine.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Lillian Violet Richards Short - 1920-2008
Mrs. Lillian Violet Richards Short, 87, of College Hill, Olive Hill, Ky., was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, June 12, 2008, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mrs. Short was born Nov. 7, 1920, in Olive Hill, where she lived all her life. She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Gertrude Bocook Richards.
Lillian was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She spent much of her time working with her son, Jim, as store manager at Contractors Supply on Railroad Street in Olive Hill. She was a member of Limestone Apostolic Church and had been a Christian for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Richard Short; three brothers, Charles Edward Richards, Arthur Richards and Paul Richards; and a sister, Garnett Coleman.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Allen and Elizabeth Short, Mickey and Vivian Short and Jim and Madonna Short, all of Olive Hill, and John and Nellie Short of New Castle, Ind.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and R.C. Davis, Shirley and Jack Lowe and Susie and Donald Lambert, all of Olive Hill; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; eight great-great- grandchildren; and six sisters and brothers-in-law, Olive Crank and Bertha Crank of Niles, Ohio, Aileen Thompson of Morehead, Ky., Alberta and Ralph Ingles and Virginia and Vaughn Carroll, all of Olive Hill, and Betty and Harold Bailey of Hitchins, Ky. She also leaves other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill by Brother Rick Crank, Brother Scott Lambert and Brother Darrell Gallihue. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery in Olive Hill.

His wife, Angela Workman Heatherly, survives.
