Dan Stephen Pitsenberger - 1963-2009

Dan Stephen Pitsenberger, 45, of Franklin, Tenn., died Wednesday, April 1, 2009. He attended Paul G. Blazer High School in Ashland, was a Vanderbilt MBA graduate, University of Kentucky graduate with a BS degree in electrical engineering and Centre College graduate with a BS degree in physics. Worked briefly for Ashland Oil as an engineer and professionally achieved eight U.S. patents.

He was born Sept. 24, 1963, in Huntington, W.Va.

He was a devoted husband, father and son and was known for his sense of humor and love for life.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Pitsenberger; daughter Kate; sons Drew and Charlie; parents Don and Beverly Pitsenberger; sisters Susan Russell and Cindy Burmaster; and many other family members and friends.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2009, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Franklin, Tenn., with the Rev. Bob Cowperthwaite officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Paul’s Columbarium.

Visitation will be an hour before services at the church in Otey Hall. Memorials may be sent to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 510 W. Main St., Franklin, TN 37064; Alive Hospice of Nashville, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203; or Battle Ground Academy, P.O. Box 1889, Franklin, TN 37065. They will be most appreciated.

Charles Miles - 1920-2009

Charles Miles, 88, of Ashland, now rests peacefully in the presence of the Lord following his passing on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mr. Miles was a son of the late Jerry and Esther Church Miles, born Nov. 17, 1920, in rural Boyd County. He served our great nation honorably with the United States Navy during World War II in the Normandy Invasion and Liberation of the Philippines. Charles retired from the AK Coke Plant after 30 years, was a Freewill Baptist minister for 48 years and a member of Mavity Freewill Baptist Church.

Sadly, Charles leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of 63 years, Ruth Church Miles; a son, John Mark Miles of Summit; and a sister, Ruth M. Sloan of Mebane, N.C.

Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Rose Allen and Bessie Marshall; and two brothers, Denver Miles and Jerry A. Miles.

A service in honor of Mr. Miles will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Officiating will be Pastors David Vaughn and Sheldon Wheeler. Music will be provided by his church family. Final rest will follow committal at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

Jeanette Ferguson - 1971-2009

Jeanette Covey Ferguson, 37, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, following a long battle with lupus.

Jeanette was born June 9, 1971 in Ashland, a daughter of Winnifred Lynn York Ferguson-Gommer and the late Edward Spencer Ferguson. Jeanette was a former paralegal and most recently worked as an administrative assistant for Ashland Community and Technical College. She attended Fairview Baptist Church as a youth.

Jeanette was a loving mother and will be sadly missed by her son, Brett Robert Davis of Ashland; her mother, Lynn Ferguson-Gommer, and stepfather, Terry Gommer of Pinellas Park, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca Lynn Ferguson Roseberry and Scott of Ashland; a paternal grandmother, Rosalie Opal McGlone Ferguson of Galesburg, Ill.; and a special niece and nephew, Natalie and Tyler Adams.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood. A private graveside service will be conducted by longtime family friend, Pastor Sandy Adams Jr. of Carlisle, Pa., on Monday, April 9, 2009.



Hubert Easterling - 1922-2009

Hubert Easterling of Rush passed away Wednesday evening, April 1, 2009, in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

Mr. Easterling was 87, born Feb. 23, 1922, in Carter County, a son of the late Lewis Frederick and Maggie Hollingsworth Easterling.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gwendolyn Maxine Fowler Easterling. Hubert served our country faithfully with the United States Army during World War II in the Rhineland and Ardennes campaigns, receiving a Purple Heart and two Bronze Campaign Stars for his bravery and service. He was a self-employed carpenter, a member of the VFW, an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening.

Along with his wife, Hubert is survived by a sister, Mary Katherine Maddox of Somerset, Ky., and several nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbors he shared his life with.

Also preceding him in death were four sisters, Besse L. Young, Faye E. Rucker, Rena E. Leibee and Mildred K. Easterling; and six brothers, Orville Easterling, Joseph R. Easterling, Ray W. Easterling, Rupert Easterling, James E. Easterling and Lewis Frederick Easterling, Jr.

Funeral services in honor of Hubert Easterling will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Words of comfort will be offered by the Rev. Walter Wilcox and the Rev. Norman Potter. Final rest will follow committal in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland. Military rites will be by American Legion Post 93 Kenova, W.Va.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Carolyn Sue Barker

Carolyn Sue Barker, 58, of West Liberty, died Wednesday at her residence.

Her husband, Robert Barker, survives.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel in West Liberty. Burial will be in Barker Family Cemetery in West Liberty.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Marie Cundiff Blundell - 1940-2009

Marie Cundiff Blundell, 69, of Elliottville, died Wednesday at her residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home in Morehead.



William Emory Sturgill - 1922-2009

William Emory Sturgill Sr., 87, of Brownhelm Township, Ohio, formerly of Elliott County, died Monday in Firelands Regional Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio.

Mr. Sturgill was born Jan. 4,1922, in Elliott County.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m Saturday at Rose Cemetery in Bruin.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m today at Waddell and Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook.



Delores Conn - 1922-2009

Delores Ann McKenzie Conn, 76, of Clearfield, died Thursday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

Mrs. Conn was born Jan. 11, 1933, and was the wife of Roy Miller Conn.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be in New Alfrey Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Ann R. Lane - 1927-2009

Ann R. Lane, 82, of South Point died Wednesday at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

She was born March 21, 1927, in South Point.

Her husband, John R. Lane Jr., preceded her in death.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of South Point. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home in Ironton and an hour before services Saturday at the church.
