She and several other friends were avid romance writers and she enjoyed going to National Conferences of the Romance Writer’s of America, one highlight of which was sharing a smoke break and chatting with Nora Roberts. She also wrote articles for the Ashland Daily Independent’s quarterly magazine and has typed the “Santa Letters” for several years. Another great joy in her life was running the Mulberry Patch Gift Shop. She was baptized at an early age at the Bagby United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her brother, Paul Ray Carroll and her beloved husband, Delbert Box who ironically suffered a fatal heart attack on May 17, 1996. He must have felt 13 years was long enough to wait for her to join him.
