James Arthur Crisp - 1909-2009

James Arthur Crisp, 99, of Ashland, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Crisp was born Oct. 14, 1909, in Greenup County, a son of the late Thomas and Cindy Moore Crisp. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Conley Crisp; three brothers, Orville, Alden and Bascom Crisp; and two sisters, Sarah Hutchinson and Ella Mae Rice.

Mr. Crisp was an iron worker since 1942 and a member of Local 769. He was owner and operator of Crisp Dairy treat since 1960, along with his sons, Raymond and Bob, and remained active in the business until two years ago. He was a 1942 charter member of Summit Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the church board for 51 years and as Sunday school superintendent.

Survivors include three sons, Raymond Crisp and his wife, Shirley, Bob Crisp and his wife, Rita, and Don Crisp, all of Ashland; a daughter, Janet Perkins and her husband, Johnny, of Franklin Furnace; two brothers, Edgar Crisp of Ashland and Dennie Crisp and his wife, Nellie, of Ashland; three sisters, Ada Rucker of Ashland, Thelma Jenkins of Dayton and Belva Jennings of Dayton; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend, Juanita Pendleton.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Summit Church of the Nazarene by the Rev. Tim Daniels. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Stella Lively - 1931-2009

Stella Sexton Lively, 77, of Ashland, widow of James Elwood Lively, died Friday in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood.



Dorothy Wilson

Dorothy Wilson, 79, died Thursday in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel.



Daisy Moore Kitchen

Daisy Dean Moore Kitchen, 92, of Greenup, died Friday in Greenup.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup.



Woodrow Webb

Woodrow Webb of Carter County died Friday at his residence.

Malone Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.



Amy Roop Farley - 1920-2009

Amy Roop Farley, 89, of Charley, died Friday in Elkhorn City.

Mrs. Farley was born May 17, 1920, at Conis, and was the widow of Woodrow Farley.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Yatesville Memorial Gardens in Louisa.



Doris Hitchcock

Doris Hitchcock, 64, of Largo, Fla., widow of Donald Hitchcock, died Thursday in Florida.

Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Johnson County Memorial Cemetery in Staffordsville.

Paintsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Lois Howell Mitchell - 1938-2009

Lois Howell Mitchell, 71, of Beaver, died Thursday at her residence.

Mrs. Mitchell was born April 27, 1938, at Craynor, and was the widow of Daniel Mitchell.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in Mitchell Family Cemetery at Beaver.



Mildred Gibson - 1925-2009

Mildred Gibson, 83, of Wayland, died Thursday at her residence.

She was born Aug. 11, 1925, at Wayland, and was the widow of Ernest Gibson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in Gibson Family Cemetery at Raven.



Hargis Hall - 1919-2009

Hargis Hall, 89, died Thursday.

Mr. Hall was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Knott County. He is survived by his wife, Marie T. Hall.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in Buckingham Cemetery at Bevinsville.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.



Stella McFaddin Daniels - 1934-2009

Stella Sue McFaddin Daniels, 74, of West Van Lear, died Thursday in Riverview Health Care Center in Prestonsburg.

Mrs. Daniels was born Dec. 8, 1934, and was the widow of Joe Daniels

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church in Lowmansville. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery at East Point.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today and until time of services Sunday at the church.

Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral costs.



Wilber J. Green - 1924-2009

Wilber J. Green, 85, of Prestonsburg, died Thursday in Prestonsburg Health Care.

Mr. Green was born May 15, 1924. His wife, Dottie Rice Green, survives.

Funeral services will be at noon Sunday at Holden Community Church. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Holden, W.Va.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville.



Donna Stewart - 1931-2009

Donna M. Stewart, 78, of Ohio Furnace, died Friday in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Mrs. Stewart was born Jan. 25, 1923, and was the widow of Charles E. Stewart.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Haverhill Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mary V. Napierkowski - 1927-2009

Mary Napierkowski, 92, of Lucasville, formerly of Baltimore, died Thursday in SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.

Mrs. Napierkowski was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Russellton, Pa., and was the widow of Edward Matthew Napierkowski.

Funeral services will be in Baltimore at the convenience of the family.
