Debbie Colley Burton - 1935-2009

Debbie Colley Burton, 73, of Grayson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 23, 2009.

She was born June 15, 1935, at Iron Hill, a daughter of the late Thomas and Martha Kibbey Colley. She was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church in Hitchins, a retired cook at several Grayson restaurants over the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis F. Burton, in 1975; two sisters, Edith Colley and Dutchie Colley McDavid; three brothers, Otto Colley, Norman Colley and Sonny Colley; four siblings.

She is survived by five sons, Frankie (Judy) Burton and Jimmy Burton, both of Grayson, Donnie Burton of Lexington, Troy (Donna) Burton of Paris and Bruce (Debbie) Burton of Columbus; two daughters, Brenda (Albert) Swanagan and Linda Blevins, both of Grayson; one brother, David Colley; three sisters, Hazel Harlow of Grayson, Laura Prichard of Cincinnati and Rosie Corpuz of Buford, S.C.; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Lyle McMicken. Burial will be in the Colley Family Cemetery in Iron Hill. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Condolences may be sent to the Burton Family at malonefuneralhome.com.



Woodrow Webb - 1918-2009

Woodrow Webb. 90, of Bellstrace, passed away May 22, 2009.

He was born Dec. 4, 1918, a son of the late Charles H. and Flora Roberts Webb. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Effie Thompson, Wilma Weater and Ruby Webb; and three brothers, Grover, Clifford and Denver Webb.

Mr. Webb was a veteran of World War II, having served as a sergeant in the Army Air Force. He was a farmer and retired as a carpenter of Local 472. Woodrow was a member of the Willard Masonic Lodge 626 for more than 50 years and a graduate of Webbville High School.

His survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mable Sexton; two daughters, Rowetta Webb of Bellstrace and Debbie Webb of Knotty Poplar; one step-son, Jay (Sara) Sexton of Grayson; three brothers, Chester Webb of East Fork, Charles Webb Jr. and Elwood Webb, both of Circleville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Lee (Kelli) Sexton, Mike (Melinda) Sexton and Jim (Jessica) Sexton; and nine great-grandchildren.

Ron Webb, Lee, Mike, Jim, Alvin and John Sexton will serve as pallbearers. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with brother Tim Porter. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today. A Masonic service will begin at 7 p.m. today. Condolences may be made to the Webb Family at malonefuneralhome.com.



Linville G. Browining

Linville G. Browining, 92, of Ashland, died Saturday at his residence.

Arrangements are pending at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel.



Wanda Laney - 1935-2009

Wanda Laney, 73, of Ashland, died Saturday at her residence.

Mrs. Laney was born June 7, 1935, and was the widow of Roy Elmer Laney.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lazear Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Brickey Family Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.



Iva “Faye” Calhoun

Iva “Faye” Calhoun, 84, of Grayson, died Sunday in Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of R.W. Calhoun.

Arrangements are incomplete at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson.



Emma Rena Sparks - 1925-2009

Emma Rena Sparks, 83, of Olive Hill, died Saturday at her residence.

Mrs. Sparks was born Oct. 29, 1925, and was the widow of Joseph Sparks.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery in Garrison.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.



Jady Glen Sowards - 1954-2009

Jady Glen Sowards, 54, of Pike County, died Friday.

Mr. Sowards was born Oct. 8, 1954.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Shelby Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Sowards Family Cemetery in Shelbiana.

Arrangements are under the direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home in Pikeville.



Harold Adkins Jr. - 1937-2009

Harold Adkins Jr., 71, of Phyllis, died Friday at Pikeville Medical Center.

Mr. Adkins was born July 1, 1937, and was the widower of Betty Adkins.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Thacker Funeral Home in PIkeville. Burial will follow Annie E. Young Cemetery.
