Bobby Ray Williams (1937-2009)
Bob Williams, 72, of Westwood, died Monday, May 25, 2009 at his home following an extended illness.
Bob was born April 4, 1937, at Magoffin County, a son of the late Sterling and Darcus LeMasters Williams. He enjoyed hunting, was a Vietnam veteran, retired from Cline Brick and enjoyed his retirement working at the Westwood Rich Oil Station.
His family and friends were his life and he was never more happy than to tell a story or just sit and talk.
Bob was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by three brothers, Elvie, Ernest and Sterling Williams Jr.; and three sisters, Katheryn Williams, Valerie Williams and Jocie Blair.
Surviving include a brother, Gary Williams and wife, Joyce Elaine, of Ashland; two sisters, Shirley Jackson of Westwood and Doris Copas and husband, Jack, of Jackson, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. by brother Perry Young at Preston Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Dixon Cemetery.

Stella Lively (1931–2009)
Stella Mae Sexton Lively, 77, of Ashland, widow of James Lively, passed away Friday, May 22, 2009, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Stella was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Bald Knob, W.Va., a daughter of the late Thurman and Leona Prince Sexton.
In addition to her parents and husband, Stella was preceded in death by two infant siblings, one grandson, James William Patrick, and a loving stepmother, Martha Fannin.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Sharon Lee (David) Kucera of Urbandale, Iowa, Rebecca Ann Patrick of Ashland, and Beverly Jean (Amos) Daniels of Ashland; one sister, Martha Rash of Bald Knob, W.Va.; one brother, Homer Sexton of Detroit, Mich.; four grandchildren, Joyce Ann (Eric) Griffith, David Allen (Anna) Rigsby, Amy (Michael) Lindley, and Amos J. Daniels II; six great-grandchildren, Chris Daniels, Jordan Mylam, Eric Griffith, Cody Griffith, Jeffery Lindley and Jennifer Lindley.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, May 27, 2009 at Caniff Funeral Home by pastor Steve Ruby. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Evelyn Workman Williams (1924-2009)
Evelyn Workman Williams, 84, of Jekyll Island, Ga., died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Memorial services will be at a later date at Jekyll Island Presbyterian Church.
Born Sept. 30, 1924, in Ashland to the late Thomas Jefferson and Maude Lynch Workman, she was a homemaker raising two daughters. Mrs. Williams was a former resident of Cincinnati, and had lived on Jekyll Island for 15 years. She was a volunteer with the Jekyll Island Art Association and was formerly involved in many community activities. Mrs. Williams was a member of Jekyll Island Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Hoople Williams, and a daughter, Patricia Williams Ulrey.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Lauren Williams Albrecht of Atlanta and Allison June Ulrey of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a son-in-law, Steve Ulrey of Pompano Beach Fla.; two brothers, Bill Workman and wife, Martha, and Harold Workman and his wife, Rosalie, all of Ashland.

Howard B. Hodge (1949-2009)
Howard B. Hodge, 59, of Covington passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville. He was born Oct. 30, 1949, in Ashland to the late Howard B. Sr. and Margaret Serey Hodge. He leaves behind his wife, Susan Hodge.
Mr. Hodge retired from the City of Covington where he served as the director of the Covington Housing Development Department. He was an attorney, a member of the Mother of God Catholic Church in Covington and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, Council 1487 in Ashland.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Glenda Jenne of Seffner, Fla.,and Brenda Conley of Frankfort; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Hodge; and a sister, Linda Senters.
A funeral Mass will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Mother of God Catholic Church in Covington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

John Ellis Amburgey (1916-2009)
John Ellis Amburgey, 92 of Ashland, formerly of Mount Sterling and Winchester, Ky., father of Linda Carole Duff, died on May 22, 2009.
He was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Menifee County, Ky., the son of the late Samuel and Pearl Igo Amburgey. He was a retired general agent for C&O; Railroad in Ashland and former agent for C&O; and L&N; Railroads in Winchester. He had more than 38 years railroad service. He was a graduate of Mount Sterling High School in 1935 and attended the University of Kentucky. He was of the Baptist faith, and manager of the Haldenan baseball team in the late 1940’s.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Lara Dawn Duff of New York City and Lance Alexander Duff of Mexico City, Mexico.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Machpelah Cemetery in Mount Sterling.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m Wednesday, May 27 at Steen Funeral Home in Ashland, Ky.

Paul Littlejohn (1953-2009)
Paul David Littlejohn, 56, of Greenup, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.
Mr. Littlejohn was born Jan. 2, 1953, in Ironton, a son of the late William and Bonnie Layne LIttlejohn.
He was a meat cutter for the Ironton Pic-N-Save store.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Littlejohn, and a father-in-law, Walter Milton Belt.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Diane Lynn Belt Littlejohn; a son, Zach David Littlejohn; two brothers, Wesley (Mary Jane) Littlejohn of Patriot, Ohio, and Bill (Pat) Littlejohn of Kitts Hill, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Belinda LIttlejohn of Coal Grove; a mother-in-law, Yvonne Hall Belt of Greenup.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by pastor Shawn Rose. Burial will be in the Plum Grove-Collins Cemetery in Greenup.

Peggy Ann Roberts Enyart (1936-2009)
Peggy Ann Roberts Enyart, 72, of Flatwoods went peacefully to her heavenly eternal home, surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was born on Oct. 19, 1936, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Eugene and Ida May Stafford Roberts.
Peggy was a wonderful Christian who loved God and her family. A loving mother, grandmother and a blessing to all who knew her. She always had a listening ear and Godly wisdom for friends and family. This beautiful person cultivated a peaceful and loving atmosphere for all who sought the sanctuary of her home. She was an accounting bookkeeper for Meredith Chiropractic in Ashland for the past 17 years. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Enyart Sallie; a brother, Cecil Roberts; and infant brother and sister, Bonnie and David Roberts.
Survivors include two daughters, Terri Meredith (Terry) of Flatwoods and Beth Stewart (W.C.) of Fort Wright, Ky.; a sister, Evelyn Stephens (Ed) of Ashland; eight grandchildren, Hope Sallie, April Sallie, Alex Stewart, Austin Stewart, Heather May (Brian), Chase Meredith, Adam and Brandon Meredith; and a niece, Kathy Keelin (Terry) of Ashland.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with minister Helen Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lowell Parsons (1927-2009)
Lowell Parsons, 81, of Greenup went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 25, 2009, at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington.
He was born Nov. 23, 1927, in York, Ky., a son of the late William S. and Nina B. Flannery Parsons. The World War II U.S. Army veteran was co-owner of Parsons Mowers & Tillers in Raceland, and was a retired laborer for CSX Railroad.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Dwight D. Parsons.
Survivors include his loving wife, Doralene Jenkins Parsons; two daughters, Wilma J. Conlon of Ashland and Diana Parsons of Lexington; three sons, Anthony Wayne Parsons of Ashland, Kenneth Alan Parsons of Goyang City, South Korea and Lowell Jeffrey Parsons of Locust Grove, Ga.; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, with burial in Quillen Cemetery in Greenup.

Iva Faye (Reeves) Calhoun (1924-2009)
Iva Faye (Reeves) Calhoun, 84, of Grayson, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 24, 2009.
She was born July 14, 1924 in Denton, a daughter of the late Alex and Emma (Burke) Reeves. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Hattie Kitchen, Garnet Tussey, Virgie Smith and Agnes Cunningham. She was employed with the Carter County Board of Education as a secretary at Hitchins and East Carter for many years.
Her survivors include her husband of 63 years, R.W. Calhoun; a daughter, Karen Calhoun of Grayson; a son, Gary Dale (Barbara) Calhoun of Raceland; two grandchildren, John C. Calhoun and Charles W. Calhoun, both of Raceland; nieces, Bernice Dixon of Columbus Ohio, Donnetta Bradley of Ashland, Judy Grayson of Ashland, Regena Beach of Flatwoods, Alice Dingee of Hitchins, Jolene Kitchen of Columbus, Loretta Burke of Danville, Ill., Betty Russenfoss of Ozark, Mo., Suzanne Bradford of South Carolina, and Sandra Kay Felty of Columbus.; nephews, Darrell Alexander of Glasgow, Ron Bradford of Maryland, Jack Bradford of Gulfport, Miss., Bill Bradford of Grayson, Wayne Bradford of Denton, Donnie Davis of Danville Ill., Bobby Joe Davis of Florida, Tommy Longley of St. Louis, Mo., and a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.
