Rosemary Dyer

Rosemary Dyer of Ashland went home to heaven on June 2, 2009.

She was the daughter of Rufus and Mary Jane Mullins and the wife of Drexel O. Dyer, who preceded her in death.

Her sisters, Lissa Baker, Judy Frazer and Ruthann Adkins, and brother, Harrison C. Mullins, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruby Amburgey of Hampton, Va., and Doris Roe of Dayton, Ohio. She is also survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Dyer and her “adopted” daughter, Dessie Stidham; five sons, Drexel O., Richard, John, Steve and Jeff; and daughters-in-law, Linda Dyer and Sally Dyer. Rosemary is also survived by grandchildren Terry Dyer, Adam (Brandy) Dyer, John Floyd (Courtney) and Steven H. (Tabby) Dyer II, whom she raised as her special son, and her only granddaughter, Andrea Rose Dyer, who was her pride and joy. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren and leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Rosemary was raised in Elliott County, where she worked the family farm and delivered mail on horseback. She helped in the war effort by working in war materials plants in Baltimore. She was a member of Heritage Temple Baptist Church and deeply devoted to her Lord.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 5, 2009, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Tim York. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be after noon today at the funeral home.



Marjorie Virginia McMeans - 1926-2009

Marjorie Virginia McMeans, 82, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday morning, June 4, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Ironton, Ohio.

Mrs. McMeans was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Virgie Virginia Maynard Williams.

In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. “J.W.” McMeans, who died in 2003.

She was co-owner and operator of McMeans Pharmacy, a member of Pollard Baptist Church, a 1944 graduate of Ashland High School and a Kentucky colonel.

Surviving are a son, John W. (Kelly) McMeans IV of Ashland; two daughters, Diane (Rick) Wellman of Ironton, Ohio, and Linda (Ross) Scott of Niceville, Fla.; grandchildren Alex McMeans, Emily McMeans, Whitney Vogelsong, Zack Scott, Nikki Scott and Scott (Cathy) Woods; and a great-grandchild, David Jacob Woods.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum by Chaplain Jimm Smedley.

Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.

Lon Kelley Jr. - 1939-2009

Lon Kelley Jr., 69, of Sciotoville, Ohio, died Wednesday in Best Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg, Ohio.

He was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Greenup County.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Zelma Hamilton - 1912-2009

Zelma Logan Hamilton, 96, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Lewis County, died Saturday in Springs at Lake Pointe Woods Nursing Home in Florida.

She was born Oct. 29, 1912, in Lewis County.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at 1068 Independence Church at Bald Point. Burial will be in Hamilton-Mawk Cemetery in Lewis County.

Friends may call after noon today at the church.

Lorene Caskey

Lorene Adams Caskey, 85, of West Liberty, died Wednesday in Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson.

Her husband, Lee Caskey, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in Caskey Cemetery in West Liberty.



Dolly Reed - 1942-2009

Dolly Frances Reed, 66, of Clearfield, died Wednesday in the Life Care Center in Morehead.

She was born Sept. 5, 1942.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Private burial will be at a later date in Ginter Cemetery in Menifee county.

Kitty Dingus - 1910-2009

Kitty Allen Dingus, 99, of Martin, died Thursday at her residence.

She was born Jan. 1, 1910, in Hueysville.

Her husband, Daniel Perkins “Perk” Dingus, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel.

Ray Dyer - 1935-2009

Ray C. Dyer, 74, of Vanceburg, died Wednesday in Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Owingsville.

He was born April 28, 1935, in Vanceburg.

His wife, Rosa Click Dyer, survives.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery on Head of Grassey.



Shaun Carver

Shaun Wriston Carver, 20, of Huntington, died Thursday in Huntington.
