Dolores Jeanne Urban Krog (1931-2009)

Dolores Jeanne Urban Krog, age 78, passed away June 14, 2009, while tending her garden.

She was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of Dr. Leslie D. and Margaret H. Urban.

She was a 1949 graduate of Ashland High School, graduated in 1953 from Duke University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta social fraternity, and a 1956 graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City. She also attended graduate school at Columbia University in New York.

She was a member of Waynesboro Women’s Club, the Waynesboro Country Club and Wenonah Garden Club in Waynesboro, Va.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 52 years, John; her sister, Mary Ann McNally of Waynesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Doug Johns of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Carrie and Brent Clark of Wilmette, Ill.; one son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Leigh Brandt Krog of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren, James, Annesley and Caroline Clark, and Will, Halle and Ben Johns and Nathan Krog; and five nieces and nephews.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no memorial service. Interment will be private.

The family will receive visitors at McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight, June 17, 2009.

Wilford Ray Brown (1932-2009)

Wilford Ray Brown, 76, of Flatwoods, formerly of Morehead, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Rowan County, Ky., a son of the late George and Sadie Clark Brown.

Mr. Brown was a retired master sergeant for the United States Air Force. He served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Mr. Brown was a flight engineer on several flights for dignitaries and high ranking officials and he was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He was also retired from Brown Metal Spinning in Eaton, Ohio.

Mr. Brown was a member of the Greenup Christian Church, a Kentucky colonel and a volunteer at the Flatwoods Senior Citizens Center. He enjoyed working on clocks, gardening, canning and airplanes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Lee Carter Brown, who passed away in 2001; two brothers, Willie Brown and Ernest Brown and four sisters, Grace Yoder, Geraldine Crum, Wilma Hadwin and Flora Logan.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Brown of Flatwoods; two daughters, Tami Wellman and her husband, Scott, and Cindy Wassom and her husband, Jeffrey, all of Eaton, Ohio, three brothers, Harold Brown, Claude Brown and Fred Brown, all of Morehead; three sisters, Geneva Whittle and Juanita Cooper, both of Morehead, and Madeline Sewell of Muncie, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Emily Wassom, Eli Wassom, Elaina Wassom, Ben Wellman, Daniel Wellman, Hannah Wellman, Ruth Wellman, Nicolas Wellman, Rebecca Wellman and Joshua Wellman and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Homer Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark Cemetery at Cranston.

Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard, who will also be serving as pallbearers.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

Maudie Kitchen

Maudie C. Kitchen, 98, of Ashland, died Sunday in Woodland Oaks Health Care.

Her husband, E. Leo Kitchen, preceded her in death.

A private graveside service will be conducted.

Miller Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.

Carl Boggs (1953-2009)

Carl Junior Boggs, 56, of Olive Hill, died Monday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

He was born March 28, 1953, in Carter County.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Boggs Cemetery in Olive Hill.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill.

Earnist “Dick” Hall (1937-2009)

Earnist “Dick” Hall, 71, of Paintsville, husband of Phyllis Shannon Hall, died Saturday in Highlands Regional Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 9, 1937, in McDowell.

The funeral was at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial was in Greenbury Hall Cemetery in McDowell.



Bertha Boyd (1933-2009)

Bertha Ann Boyd, 76 of Dana, wife of the late Johnnie Boyd, died Tuesday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.

She was born Jan. 2, 1933, in Dana.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Boldman Freewill Baptist Church in Harold. Burial will be in Davidson Memorial Gardens in Ivel.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. tonight at the Hall Funeral Home in Martin.



Eldon Crouch

Eldon Crouch, 69, of Wellington, died Monday in Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty.

His wife, Evelyn Cole Crouch, survives.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Botts Christian Church in Denniston. Burial will be in Catron Cemetery in Denniston.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Menifee Home for Funerals in Frenchburg is in charge of arrangements.



Virgil Ousley (1943-2009)

Virgil Ousley, 65 of Martin, died Tuesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 31, 1943, in Risner.

His wife, Lois Compton Ousley, survives.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in Gethsemane Gardens in Prestonsburg.



Amy Wilcox (1971-2009)

Amy Lynn Wilcox, 38, of Deering, died June 12 in University Hospital in Cincinnati.

She was born Feb. 3, 1971, in Lawrence County.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Dawson Bryant High School gymnasium in Coal Grove. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Friday at the school.
