Velva Ruth Ferguson Trimble (1935-2009)
Velva Ruth Ferguson Trimble, 73, of Ashland, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 17, 2009.
Mrs. Trimble was born Sept. 23, 1935, at Relief, Ky., a daughter of the late Renford L. Ferguson and Lula Mae Ferguson.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John H. Trimble, on June 8, 2009; three brothers, Aubra H. Ferguson, the Rev. John W. Ferguson and Russell H. Ferguson; and three sisters, Ethel Fyffe, Sophia Ferguson and Maude Ferguson.
She was a self-employed electrologist and founding member of New Beginnings Worship Center, where she was Sunday school superintendent and active in the ladies ministry.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Mary Trimble of Ashland; a daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Horne of Ashland; three grandchildren, Rebekah (Benjamin) Price of Ashland, Haley Brooke Trimble and Peyton John Trimble; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Delcia (Forest) Miller of West Liberty, Ky., and Wanda (Fred) Boose of Lake Village, Ind.; and loved by special nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Thomas C. Jones and the Rev. Thomas E. Jones. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Merrill Chinn (1935-2009)
Merrill Chinn, 73, of Worthington, Ky., died June 17, 2009, in Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born Nov. 24, 1935, in Greenup County, Ky., a son of the late Merrill C. and Elizabeth Young Chinn. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Kyle Chinn.
He was a retired electrician technician with AK Steel Corp. and a member of Steelworkers Local 1875. He was a Kentucky colonel.
Surviving are sons Chuck (Tara) Chinn of Greenup, Ky., and Mike (Kim) Chinn of Hanging Rock, Ohio; daughters Carrie Keaton of Worthington, Tammy (John) Bennett of Moyock, N.C., Denise Simmons of Raceland, Ky., and Paula (Jeff) Lindenmuth of Charleston, W.Va.; and sisters Ethel Hoffman of San Antonio, Texas, June Cornett of Worthington and Elizabeth (Frank) Linderman of Easley, S.C.
A graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods by Bob Copley.

Mildred Eda Garner Burchett (1924-2009)
Mildred Eda Garner Burchett, 84, of Olive Hill, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 2009, at the residence of her granddaughter in Olive Hill.
Mrs. Burchett was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Canon City, Colo., a daughter of the late Jessie Homer and Maude Belle Sellers Garner.
Mildred was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had been a faithful Christian and attended Pleasant Valley Gospel Tabernacle Church. Her passion was writing beautiful poetry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ora “Larry” Burchett; three brothers, Miles T. Garner, Seth T. Garner and Ora L. Garner; and six sisters, Zena Bourne, Marie Badgley, Delma Cox, Clara Bennett, Louise Cook and Evelyn Olguin.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Quentin Burchett; two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Faye Burchett of Mount Sterling and Gregory and Mary K. Burchett of Centerville, Ohio; eight daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and William Brite of Casper, Wyo., Linda and Ted Dura of Florissant, Colo., Kathy and Arthur Rayburn of Vanceburg, Ky., Judith and Kenneth Owens of Roseboro, N.C., Karen McCarville of Colorado Springs, Colo., Nancy and Randy Young of Akron, Ohio, Bonnie and Stanley Lacy of Hudson, Fla., and Garnet and David Handshoe of Hamilton, Ohio; a special granddaughter and caregivers, Gloria and Steve Kitchen of Olive Hill; 42 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves numerous other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Eugene Rayburn and Brother Randy Binion officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery on Highway 59 in Lewis County, Ky.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today and until services Saturday at the funeral home.
Dwayne Rayburn, Thamer Rayburn, Quentin Rayburn, John Rayburn, Jason Rayburn, Wesley Rayburn, Romney Owens and Wayne Owens will serve as pallbearers. Steve Kitchen and Johnny Kitchen will serve as honorary pallbearers.
