James “Buck” Newcomb - 1946-2009

James “Buck” Newcomb, 63, of Westwood, formerly of Ironton, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 17, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was the widower of Claria “Dusty” Payne Newcomb.

His survivors include three children, Leslie Newcomb of Ironton, Hayley Newcomb of Ironton and Lori Delong of Coal Grove; five grandchildren, Davy, Christopher, Chelsea, Zach and Cody; and one great-grandchild, Kylie.

James Homer Bullion - 1918-2009

James Homer Bullion, age 91, of Argillite, Ky., died Saturday, June 20, 2009 in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

He was born March 10, 1918, in Greenup County, Ky., a son of the late Scott Bullion and Rosie Morman Bullion.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Stacey Bullion on Jan. 25, 2009; two sons, Darrell and Kenneth Bullion; one daughter, Nola Hicks; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was a self-employed farmer.

Surviving are seven sons and their wives, Bennie (Donna) Bullion of Ashland, Ky., Larry Bullion, James (Carol) Bullion, Jesse (Jean) Bullion, Jerry (Jean) Bullion and Phillip (Kay) Bullion, all of Danleyton, Ky., and Paul (Cindy) Bullion of Marion, Ohio; four daughters and their husbands, Bernice (Larry) Barker and Susie (Steve) Barker, all of Danleyton, and Sheila (Dave) Moore and Rosie (Tom) Johnson, all of Ashland; 33 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Virgil Bullion of Ashland and one sister, Juanita Hicks of Huntington, W.Va.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Danleyton Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Dennis Miles. Burial will be in Huff Cemetery.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the church.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Barker Jr., Stanley Barker, Tracy Barker, David Barker, Larry Barker, Travis Barker and Scottie Bullion.

Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to defer funeral expenses.



Brylee Joycelynne Ritscher

Brylee Joycelynne Ritscher, daughter of Henry Jonathan Ritscher and Chattie Marie Fairchild Ritscher of Wahiawa, Hawaii, died Monday, June 15, 2009 in Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Additional survivors include maternal grandparents, Joyce and Bob Fairchild of Gallipolis, Ohio; and paternal grandparents, David and Kathy Ritscher of Squaw Valley, Calif.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Hale Family Cemetery in Williamsport, Ky.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, June 23, 2009 at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville.



Terry Taylor II

Terry James Taylor II, 19, of Flatwoods, died.

Raymond Mullins Sr. - 1938-2009

Raymond Mullins Sr., 71, of Hitchins, died June 19 at his home.

He was born April 23, 1938, in Boyd County.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Burial will follow a committal at Coalton Cemetery.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.



Joan Pinkerman

Joan Pinkerman, 68, of Grayson, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, died Monday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.



Ruby Rigdon - 1917-2009

Ruby Agnes Rigdon, 92, died Sunday in Golden Living Center in Vanceburg.

She was born March 21, 1917, in Lewis County.

Her husband, Harry Hazel Rigdon, died in 1975.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Burial will be in Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Maysville.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



William Lewis

William Lewis, 87, of Sandy Hook, died Sunday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

His wife, Thelma Lewis, survives.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery in Sandy Hook.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Edna Hall

Edna Mae Hall, 63, of Hazel Green, died June 19 in Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty.

Her husband, William Junior Hall, survives.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in O’Hair Cemetery in Trent.



Edward Nantell

Edward Lee Nantell, 53, of West Liberty, died June 19 in University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

His wife, Debbie Lynn Hicks Nantell, survives.

The funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial was in Hager Phipps Cemetery in Cannel City.



Sylvia Eldridge - 1944-2009

Sylvia Jean Eldridge, 65, of Martha, died Monday at her residence.

She was born Jan. 16, 1944, in Martha.

Her husband, Kendrick Eldridge, died in 2005.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elizabeth Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hayes Cemetery in Martha.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today and anytime Wednesday at the church.

Amanda Collins - 1923-2009

Amanda Collins, 86, of Prestonsburg, formerly of Nippa, died Saturday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.

She was born April 15, 1923, in Floyd County.

Her husband, Charlie Collins, preceded her in death.

The funeral was at 3 p.m. Monday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial was in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Staffordsville.



Dan Burgess - 1948-2009

Dan Allen Burgess, 60, of Wittensville, died Saturday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 12, 1948, in Pike County.

His wife, Margaret Blair Burgess, survives.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Blair-Saylor Family Cemetery in Staffordsville.

Betty Trent

Betty Caudill Trent, 58, of Nicholasville, formerly of Rowan County, died Monday in Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

She was the wife of John Trent.

Steven Wilkes

Steven Ray Wilkes, 51, of Kenova, husband of Joan Wilkes, died Sunday.
