Harold Gene Bush - 1939-2009
Harold Gene Bush, age 69, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday morning, June 24, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Boyd County, Ky., a son of the late Charles H. and Beulah Stambaugh Bush.
He was retired from AK Steel after 41 years of service. He was a member of Ashland First Church of the Nazarene and a volunteer for Community Hospice and Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Christine Prichard Bush of Ashland; a son, Timothy Harold (Kathy) Bush of Ironton, Ohio; daughters, Terri (Tim) Dalenberg of Elkhart, Ind., and Vicki (Greg) Walters of Ashland; and brothers, Charles R. Bush and Larry Joe Bush, both of Fort Wayne, Ind., Donald Bush of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Robert Bush of Huntington, W.Va. Also surviving are his two grandchildren, who were the joy of his life, Timothy Jacob “T.J.” Dalenberg and Morgan Walters.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Steve Ruby. Entombment will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Emily Brickey - 1921-2009
Emily Brickey, age 88, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday morning, June 24, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland following a brief illness.
Mrs. Brickey was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Clay County, Ky., a daughter of the late Rowland and Myrtle Napier Davidson.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Victor Kermit Brickey Sr., who died in 1996; brothers, Roscoe Davidson and Broadus Davidson; and sisters, Ola Morgan, Susie Robinson and Mary Edna Davidson.
She was a graduate of Berea High School and was a retired teacher’s aide at Blaine Elementary School. She was a devoted Christian, Mother, Grandmother and homemaker who was an avid quilter and loved working in her garden and canning vegetables.
Surviving are sons, Victor (Patricia) Brickey Jr. of Grayson, Ky., and Frank (Lola) Brickey of Ashland; daughters, Mary (Byron) Thompson of McCormick, S.C., Ruth Steele of Columbus, Ohio, Nella (Ralph) Payne of Winchester, Ky., and Cora (Rev. C.L.) Varvell of Jacksonville, N.C.; a brother, Taylor Davidson of Frankfort, Ky.; a sister, Cora Wilson of Leesburg, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Paul A. Neal and the Rev. Emmitt Barker. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Alvin Clyde “A.C.” Romans - 1937-2009
Alvin Clyde “A.C.” Romans, also lovingly known as Poppy, age 72 of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center on Pollard Road in Ashland.
He was born June 15, 1937, in Hopewell, Ky., Greenup County, a son of the late Clyde Washington Romans and Maudie Belle Stewart Romans.
In addition, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ersel, Ray and L.J. Romans; and two sisters, Clara Mae Emerson and Jean Romans.
He was a retired construction worker with Laborers Local No. 1445 with 43 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Ashland Elks Lodge BPOE No. 350.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Jean Gray Romans; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Daniel (Mariela) Romans of Surprise, Ariz., Wayne Romans of Ventura, Calif., Steven Romans of South Shore, Ky., and Robert Smedley and James (Stephanie) Smedley, both of Ashland; one daughter and son-in-law, Debi Mills Bradley (Danny) of Ashland; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mills, Aaron Romans, Felicia Mills, Drake Smedley, Atley Smedley, Quinton Romans, Brady Smedley, Kaitlyn Jones, Emily Mills, Shelby Smedley, Allie Jones and Bailee Smedley; one brother, Lovell Romans of Columbus, Ohio; and one sister, Evelyn Reuter of Indianapolis, Ind.
The family would like to extend their great appreciation to KDMCI-ICU for their exceptional care and also to Dr. Stark, Dr. Kellerman and to the Community Hospice Care Center.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Charles Bush and Chaplain Jimm Smedley.

Sarah Ison Lyon - 1944-2009
Sarah Ison Lyon, age 65, of Russell, Ky., died June 24, 2009, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
She was born March 31, 1944, a daughter of the late Elmer S. and Florence Ison. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Susan Lyon.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Russell.
Surviving are her husband, Walter Lyon of Russell; a son, Anthony “Tony” (Marcella) Lyon of Wurtland, Ky.; a brother, Ishmael J. (Anna) Ison of Elliottsville, Ky.; two sisters, Alice (Raymond) Roth of Dayton, Ohio, and Sheila (David) Walters of Miamisburg, Ohio; and two grandsons, Zachary and Trevor Lyon.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky., by Pastor Ken Gowin and the Rev. Leon Keith Lyon. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Terry James “T.J.” Taylor II - 1990-2009
Terry James “T.J.” Taylor II, age 18, of Flatwoods, Ky., died June 22, 2009, in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born Oct. 5, 1990, in Port Charlotte, Fla., a son of Terry James Taylor of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Janice Taylor of Flatwoods.
He was a server at Golden Corral.
Additional survivors include brothers, Zachary Taylor, Oscar Taylor and Jason Fish of Flatwoods; sisters, Julie Peter and Karen Norling of Rhinelander, Wis.; nieces, Kayla Norling and Cassie Norling, both of Rhinelander, Brittany Fish of Flatwoods and Elishia Taylor of Florence, Ala.; and grandparents, Jim and Cormelitta Taylor of Florence.
A memorial and candlight vigil will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at 712 Highland Ave., Flatwoods, KY 41139.

Lloyd C. Sagraves - 1933-2009
Lloyd C. Sagraves, 75, of Webbville, Ky., went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 22, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born June 29, 1933, in Carter County, Ky., a son of the late Russell and Myrtle Sue Blevins Sagraves.
He was retired from E.B. Lowman Construction, was employed with North American Brickyard for 17 years and Dayton Malleable Iron for 11 years. Lloyd was a member of the United Steel Workers of America and attended the Little Brushy United Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, George C. Seagraves; a sister, Dorothy Mae Seagraves Branham and two brothers, James Ralph Seagraves and Harlan A. Seagraves.
His survivors include his wife, Kathleen Crum Sagraves of Webbville; three daughters, Ida Sue and Rocky Jones of Norfolk, Va., Linda Lou Lewis of Akins, S.C., and Jewell and Kip Wilson of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Ralph and Cathy Seagraves of Lavalette, W.Va., and Mike L. and Melissa Seagraves of Greenup, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Brian Swanagan of Grayson, Ky., Keisha Swanagan of Arcadia, Ind., Daniel Davis of Lincoln, Neb., Mandy Mable of California, Ashley Barada of Ashland, Ky., Michael A. Seagraves of Ashland, Toni R. Seagraves of Grayson, Jamie Lynn Seagraves of Grayson, Nikki Seagraves of Grayson, Christopher Seagraves of Lavalette, and Tyler Wilson of Atlanta, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Kailyn Barada, Kiley Barada, Jordan Shiplett, Lauren Gleim and Alexandrea Thomas; and three brothers, Orville Sagraves of Denton, Ky., John B. Seagraves of Olive Hill, Ky., and Ernest Eugene Seagraves of Grayson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with J.B. Seagraves and Tim Porter, officiating. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Zackery Allen Coleman
Zackery Allen Coleman, age two weeks, son of Joseph and Kristina Parsons Coleman of Honaker, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at home.
He was born June 9, 2009, in Prestonsburg, Ky.
He is survived by his parents; one brother, Jacob Thomas Coleman of Honaker; maternal grandparents, Barlow and Shirley Parsons of Honaker; and paternal grandmother, Sharon Coleman of Raccoon, Ky., and the late Joey Coleman.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, June 25, 2009, at Hall Funeral Home Chapel in Martin with Red Lawson officiating. Entombment will be in Harvey Cemetery.
Mary Eloise Holbrook Watson - 1930-2009
Mary Eloise Holbrook Watson, died June 22, 2009.
She was born Feb. 7, 1930, a daughter of the late Virgil and Etta Holbrook of Newfoundland, Ky.
She was the wife of 62 years to Andrew D. Watson Jr. whom she married Aug. 1, 1947, in Greenup, Ky.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda Kay (Gregory) Evans of Waxhaw, N.C.; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Taylor) Chinn of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Shannon (Zeb) Kellough of Toledo, Ohio; two great-grandsons, Jackson Gregory Chinn and Levi Paul Kellough; and three sisters, Dena Rowe and Irene Dickerson of Johnstown, Ohio, and Billie Ann Boggs of Phoenix, Ariz.
One sister, Nora Edna Harris of Kettering, Ohio, preceded her in death.
Mary and her husband operated Watson’s Grocery in the Lytten community for more than 30 years. She was a homemaker and member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church for 62 years.
She was a faithful worker in the church until health issues took over her body. She loved the Lord with all her heart and continued to pray and call out to Him until the end.
If desired, the family would like to suggest in lieu of flowers, to make donations in Mary’s name to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook by Brother Warren Vanover, minister. Burial will be in Elliott County Memory Gardens.

Kermit C. Webb, 55, of Ironton, died Wednesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born April 18, 1954, in Ironton.
His wife, Cheryl Wheeler Webb, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at God’s Holiness Mission in Ironton. Burial will be in Hecla Cemetery.
