Davis Moore Coleman 1967-2012

ASHLAND — Davis Coleman, son of Malinda and Marshall J. Coleman, passed away in Diamond Health and Rehabilitation in Simpsonville, S.C., after seven years of declining health. He had been an invalid since suffering an anoxic brain injury in 2005.

Davis was born in Charleston, S.C., on Dec. 16, 1967. The family moved to Greenville in 1974, and he attended Augusta Circle Elementary, Hughes Middle School and Greenville High School. In 1987, he graduated from Christ School for Boys in Arden, N.C., where he lettered in football, basketball and track. He served as a U.S. Senate page for Senator Strom Thurmond in June 1986.  Davis attended the College of Charleston, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and Clemson University. He was knowledgeable and interested in all sports and especially loved horse racing. He was an ardent Clemson fan and was a frequent caller on the Mickey Plyler radio show.

Davis was a member of the sales team at Gates/Arrow and Ikon Office Solutions. He later headed the Greenville office of Copier Sales & Service.

Davis is survived by his parents; his uncle and aunt, Dr. John E. and Jan Moore; cousins, John Harris Moore and Hayden Moore, all of Atlanta, Ga.; his uncle and aunt, Dr. Bill and Debbie Coleman of Greenville; cousins, Kate Coleman and Matthew Coleman; and a special and devoted friend, Megan Swift. Davis will be fondly remembered by many friends throughout the southeast.

He was predeceased by grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. James Everett Moore of Ashland and Dr. and Mrs. Marshall J. Coleman of Darlington, S.C.

The family wishes to express their greatest thanks to the entire staff of Diamond Health and Rehabilitation for their kindness and support during this long illness and especially Mrs. Robbie Evans and also to the Greenville medical community.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m Sunday, Nov. 18, at Saint Joseph’s Chapel at Christ School for Boys, 500 Christ School Rd., Arden, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, if one wishes, memorials may be made to the Class of 1987 Scholarship or the Athletic Department at Christ School, Arden, N.C., or to the charity of one’s choice.
