GRAYSON —
Jewel Irene McDavid, born Sept. 23, 1920, in Carter County, died Sunday morning, Sept. 30, 2012, of cardiac arrest.
She was a retired employee of Western Publishing Co. and a longtime resident of Genesis Multi-Medical Center Nursing Home in Towson, Md., where she was sometimes referred to as “the poet-laureate of Multi-Medical.” Mrs. McDavid was a member of the Woodbrook Baptist Church of Baltimore, Md., formerly Eutaw Place Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Salyers of Ashland. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Kuntz and son-in-law Richard Kuntz of Great Falls, Va.; a son-in-law, James LaPorte of Grayson; and granddaughters Lisa Babbitt of Portsmouth, R.I., and Christina Kuntz of Winchester, Va.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at the funeral home by Jonathan Babbitt. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.
