Donna Weis 1943-2012

ASHLAND — Donna Faye Nichols Jobe Weis, 69, entered the gates of Heaven on Dec. 30. 2012, losing her battle with cancer, she passed away in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Donna was born March 12, 1943, in Mason County. The oldest of four children, she was the daughter of the late, Henry Clay Nichols and Mildred Ruth Shepherd Nichols Jessie Cook.

Donna grew up in Robertson County. After graduating from Deming High School, she attended Maysville Community College and received her certification as a surgical technician. Moving to Russell, she began her career at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, retiring after 29 years of service. Donna was a member of First Baptist Church of Flatwoods and was dearly loved and adored by her brothers and sisters in church. Above all, Donna’s greatest love was being a grandmother to Tori Crabtree, Ryleigh Jobe and Taylen Leach.

In addition to her parent, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Arville Anderson.

Donna is survived by her husband, Orville Gene Weis, of Flatwoods, whom she spent the last 40 years of her life with; one brother, Henry (JoNell) Nichols; two sisters, Susan Anderson and Pat Nichols; a daughter, Kim Jobe Crabtree; a son Tim (Toni) Jobe; a stepson, Tony Weis; a step daughter, Belinda Weis; three granddaughters; six step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Ava Geyer, of Ashland; a niece Betty Caudill, of Westwood; a host of nieces and nephews; friends and family. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered and will live forever in our hearts.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, by Pastor Jim Nichols and David Daniels, Deacon at First Baptist Church of Flatwoods. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup County.  

Friends may have called from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood.
