Ann L. Oakes Vallance, 86, of Flatwoods, passed away Thursday in Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods.
Mrs. Vallance was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Chelyan, W.Va., a daughter of the late Melvin D. and Haley Tincher Oakes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Theodore “Ted” Vallance Jr., on Aug. 3, 2007, and three brothers.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Flatwoods, the Women’s Auxiliary of the Flatwoods Volunteer Fire Department and the Greenbo Pathfinder Camping Club.
She is survived by five sons, Gary (Carrie) Vallance of Ashland, Roger (Pam) Vallance of Ashland, Randall (Angie) Vallance of Russell, Michael (Sandy) Vallance of Raceland and Kevin T. (Kathy) Vallance of Huntington, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods by minister J.R. Gullett. Entombment will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
The visitation will be after noon Saturday at the funeral home.
