Erma Lee McCarty-Nethercutt 1922-2012

GREENUP — Erma Lee McCarty Nethercutt, 90, of Southhaven, Miss., formerly of Argillite, passed away Tuesday in Desota Baptist Hospital, where she is now rejoicing in heaven’s garden with her Lord and Savior.

Erma was born April 13, 1922, in Johnson County, to the late Haden and Effie McCarty, later Rose. Mrs. Nethercutt was a homemaker and was a longtime member of Brush Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Erma enjoyed spending time at her church and with her church family. She loved to take long walks in the woods, and she was the best mother, grandmother and sister her family could have ever hoped for. She will be missed terribly.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jack Nethercutt; a son, Kermit Ronald Nethercutt; a brother, James McCarty; a sister, Martha Crum; a grandson, Kermit Nethercutt II; and a great-grandson, Blake Nethercutt.

She is survived by a caring and loving family, including a son, Richard Nethercutt and wife Cathy of Southhaven; a sister, Jean Fields of Grayson; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Brush Creek Freewill Baptist Church, with comforting words delivered by Pastor Frank Hackworth. Burial will be in Kirby Flats Cemetery in Ashland.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.
