FLATWOODS —
Steven “Tiny” Matthew Smith, 47, of Flatwoods, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland surrounded by his caring family.
Steve was born in Huntington on Nov. 24, 1964.
Mr. Smith was a 1982 graduate of Russell High School and was a member of the Moore Street Tabernacle in Ashland. He was a former member of the Greenup County Hunters Club and was an avid outdoorsman and cherished spending time fishing with his father and brothers.
Although Steve and Bonnie had no children of their own, they touched the lives of numerous children through the years, both at the Ramey Estep Home, as well as the 12 children they fostered in their home. He loved his family, his job and the children he was blessed to have in his life.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Agnes Parsons; and paternal grandparents, Mont and Missouri Smith; one brother, David Luther; and his biological mother, Edna Mae Luther.
A loving and devoted family is left behind to mourn his passing including his beautiful wife, Bonnie Sue Shultz-Smith of Flatwoods; his parents, Lucian and Glenna Faye Parsons-Smith of Flatwoods; six brothers, Bryan Scott Smith and his wife, Zenny, of Worthington, Frank Harrison Luther of Shoals, W.Va., Adrian Monroe Luther of Catlettsburg, Wayne Wesley Luther of Ceredo, Jimmy Luther of Kenova and Allen Luther of Flatwoods; two sisters, Barbara Walters of Huntington and Lois Luther of South Carolina; two nephews, Josh Tyler Smith of Boyd County and John Lucian Smith of Virginia Beach, as well as many friends and extended family members of whom will all miss him dearly.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Pastor Danny Pancake and Chaplain Mike Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Palmer Cemetery in Flatwoods.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 25, 2012, at the funeral home.
