William Kenneth Strait 1931-2012

ASHLAND — William Kenneth Strait, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.

He was born July 30, 1931, in Ashland, a son of the late Frank Russell Strait and Emma Myrtle Hunnicut Strait Morse. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, A.E. Morse.

Kenneth was a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church and actively involved in the Crusaders Class and church food pantry. He will be remembered for his sincere and personal faith in God. In 1992, Kenneth retired as a supervisor from Armco Steel. For many years he was an active member of the Sandy Creek Golf Club, the Arky Stars Square Dancing Club and the Elks club. Kenneth served 13 years in the Kentucky National Guard.  

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Mary Lou Huber Strait of Russell; three sons, Dr. Tim (Marla) Strait of Bellefonte, Randy (Terri) Strait of New Albany, Ohio, and Rusty (Greta) Strait of Lexington; six grandchildren, Eli Strait (Christina) of Lexington, Jordan (Nick) Donovan of Lexington, Lauren Strait of Bellefonte, Katy (Ryan) Jansen of Louisville, Erin Strait of Bellefonte and Emily Spencer of Lexington; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Strait, Keegan Strait and Avery Donovan, all of Lexington; two brothers, Wes Strait (Sharon) of Ashland and David Morse (Josie) of Ashland; and a sister, Linda (Richard) Cahal of Ona, W.Va.  

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at  Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Troy Poff. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 7, 2012, and an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Centenary United Methodist Church, 2901 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
