Opal Virginia France 1926-2012

LOUISA — Opal Virginia France, 86, of Louisa, went to be with her Lord on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.

She was born April 22, 1926, in Red Jacket, W.Va., the daughter of the late Charles Compton and Ethel Smith Lee.

She was a homemaker and worked as an adult day care aide. She was also a member of the Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband,  Joseph France who died in 1995; a son, Otis; a grandson, Joey; two great-granddaughters, Melissa and Heather; sisters, Beulah, Sarah Ann, Oma and Hazel; and brothers, Charles, Ernest and Billy.

She is survived by her loving family; two daughters and son-in-laws, Geneva and Mike Coleman of Pikeville, and their children, Sam, Eddie (Patricia), Jody (Kris), Sean, and Mary and Tom Dyckes of Columbus; and their children, Connor, Jason and Ethan; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Charlie James and Karen France of Louisa and their children, Shantella (Eric) and Charlie II and Jesse and wife Brenda France of Pembroke, Ga., and their children, Sherry (Derrick), Steven (Robyn), Jason (Michelle) and Jack (Mita), and her deceased son Otis’ child Dr. Brian Francis and wife Allison; 26 great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Lou Backer of Greenville, S.C., Betty Mae Music Branham of Parkersburg, and Phygenia King of Gladstone, Mo. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at Wilson Funeral Home with her son, the Rev. Jesse France officiating. Burial will follow in the France Family Cemetery in Louisa.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
