Virgie Mae Baldridge-Roark - 1923-2012

SOUTH SHORE — Virgie Mae Baldridge-Roark, 89, of South Shore, formerly of Flatwoods passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, in Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland.

She was born March 15, 1923, in Greenup County, to the late John and Lora Justice-Baldridge. Virgie was a homemaker and the oldest member of the Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Roark in 1998; one daughter, Judy Yates; three brothers, Earl Baldridge, Ray Baldridge and Jesse Baldridge; one sister, Edna Carr and one niece, Reba Roush.

She leaves behind a loving and devoted family including her children and their spouses, son, Thomas and Julie Mitchell of Woodville, Wis.; four daughters, Ann and Danny Brown of South Shore, Rebecca and Jerry Stephens of Greenup, Mary and Ted Robinson of Flatwoods and Norma Rae and Dan Rice of Catlettsburg; two nephews who she cared for as her own, Bobby Gene Justice and Harry Justice; two brothers, Chester Baldridge of Wurtland and Johnny Baldridge of Grove City, Ohio; two sisters, Ruth Dewy of Nashville, Tenn., and Maxine Short of Flatwoods as well as 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.   

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Words of comfort and reassurance will be spoken by Lloyd Bailey and Jeff Smith. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at the funeral home.
