ASHLAND —
James “Jim” Preston, 72, of Ashland, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Preston was born Aug. 15, 1939, in Boyd County. He was the son of the late George and Edna Meade Preston. Jim was also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Virginia Spradlin Preston. He was a former truck driver for Ashland Culvert, and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include a son, James Michael Preston and his wife, Cindy, of Flatwoods; two daughters, Tina Spradlin and Beverly Rice, both of Ashland; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Georgene Ball (Don) of Ashland and Joann Perdue of South Point, Ohio; and a half brother, Cecil Cooksey of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ted Preston, and sisters Myrtle Chaffin and Ruby Deboard.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Mike Moore will officiate. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
