Jack Cumblidge 1924-2012

ASHLAND — Jack Dean Cumblidge, 87, of Athens, Ga., formerly of Westwood, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, following an extended illness.

Jack was born Sept. 13, 1924, in St. Mary’s, W.Va., to the late Frank and Gertrude Roberts Cumblidge.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked in the aerospace field and retired from Rockwell International as property manager. He attended Pollard Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Hall Cumblidge; a brother, James Cumblidge; and three sisters, Wilma Jean Price, Edna Louise Cokley and Peggy Cherryholmes.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Cumblidge of Los Angeles and Steve Cumblidge of Athens; a daughter, Donna Sue Hall of Ashland; a brother, Donald Cumblidge of Lancaster, Calif.; four sisters, Betty Wright of Belpre, Ohio, Helen Pauline Gardner of Lancaster, Dorothy Reynolds and Connie Moore, both of Fort Meyers, Fla.; an aunt, Ruth Polston of Lilburn, Ga.; three grandchildren, Brian Kratz, Jeffrey Schwendeman and Shannon Hall; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Caleb Kratz; and numerous friends and extended family.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood by Dr. Wesley Smith. Burial will be in East Carter Memory Gardens in Grayson. Military honors will be by American Legion Post 93.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
