Infant Seth Michael Poplin-Meade
Infant Seth Michael Poplin-Meade, son of Jeremy Meade and Katrina Poplin of Ashland, was born into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2010, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Surviving are paternal grandparents Michael and Adrianne Meade of Ashland, Ky., and maternal grandparents Michael and Melissa Poplin of Ashland.

Joseph T. “Boxcar” Reynolds - 1934-2010
Joseph T. “Boxcar” Reynolds, 75, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, March 8, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 4, 1934, in Ashland, the son of the late James and Katherine Wolf Reynolds.
He was retired from Armco Steel and a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where he was the First Greeter. He was a member of American Legion Post 76, a Kentucky colonel and a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary McGuire Reynolds; a sister, Betty Owens of Oklahoma; a brother, Cy Reynolds of Ashland; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ashland by the Rev. Ike Nicholson. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Music Fund.
Carl Edwin Butler - 1919-2010
Carl Edwin Butler, 90, of Catlettsburg, Ky., passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Houckville, Ky., a son of the late Barnes and Senna Steele Butler.
He was an operator at Ashland Oil and a World War II Army veteran. He attended Catalpa Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Tommy A. Butler; two brothers, Colfax Butler and Samuel Butler; and two sisters, Edith Boggs and Easter Sparks.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Dora Emily Jones of Catlettsburg; a son, Carl Butler Jr. (Toni) of Catlettsburg; four daughters, Doris (Ray) Sharp of Norwood, Ohio, Carolyn (Allen) Gillum of Sandy Hook, Ky., Pat (Charles) Kees of Ashland and Deborah (Craig) McNeil of Louisa, Ky.; a sister, Eileen Butler of Ashland; eight grandchildren, Ron Stephens, Melissa (Troy) Boley, David Gillum, Brian (Lisa) Gillum, Jeremiah McNeil, Michael Butler, Jennifer McNeil and Shannan (Annie) Kees; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to caregivers Maxine, Phyllis, Robin and Carolyn.

Kenneth H. Ward - 1913-2010
Kenneth H. Ward, 97, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away March 5, 2010.
Mr. Ward was born Jan. 24, 1913, in Muses Mills, Ky. He was the son of the late James Harry Ward and Effie Pitts Ward. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Ellen Ward; two infant sisters; two brothers, Ersil Pitts Ward and Overly Forest Ward; and a sister, Hildreth Ward Willson.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patsy Lee Mackebee Ward of Sun City Center; a son, Kenneth Ray Ward and his wife, Wendy; a granddaughter, Elan Marae of Lamoine, Maine; a brother, Marvin C. Ward of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a sister, Bea Ward Davis of Portland, Ore. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Ward was employed for many years by the U.S. government. He had aircraft and engine senior mechanic’s licenses by the FFA. He received many certificates and awards for his accomplishments. The one he was most pleased with was working the nonexplosive unit for testing and retesting fuel mixtures until the current mixture was formulated to be used in the space program. After retiring from the government, he returned to his first love — teaching. He, with state board approval, developed the Manual Arts Program for Dayton Christian School of Dayton, Ohio.
Mr. Ward’s keen interest in genealogy helped him to produce three books of the Ward, Pitts and Stone families.
He was a retired volunteer fireman for Beavercreek, Ohio. He was a member of Beaver Valley Masonic Lodge, a Shriner in Ashland, Ky., and a member of Son of the American Revolution, Lakeland, Fla., chapter.
Mr. Ward was a member of Beech Street Christian Church in Ashland and Friendship Baptist Church of Sun City Center, where his mandolin specials will be missed at many Sunday evening services.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by the Rev. Kenneth Vaughn. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Willard Millhouse Jr. - 1936-2010
Willard Millhouse Jr., 73, of Raceland, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 8, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mr. Millhouse was born April 30, 1936, in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Willard Sr. and Edith Gilmore Millhouse. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Dodd, and a son, Tim Millhouse.
He was a retired supervisor for Delta Faucet Co. in Oklahoma and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his loving wife, Eva Smith Millhouse; four daughters, Sharon Anderson, Judy Barton, Nancy Millhouse and Charlotte Novack; five sons, Jim Coyle, Joe Coyle, Lee Millhouse, Arthur Millhouse and Shady Millhouse; and several grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 10, 2010, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, with funeral services at 7 p.m. by the Rev. Marvin Boggs.
Charles Paul Holsinger - 1935-2010
Charles Paul Holsinger, 74, of Wurtland, Ky., passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mr. Holsinger was born Sept. 21, 1935, in Pike County, Ky., to the late Garland Holsinger and Mary Ridenour Holsinger. His sister, Vonnie Jewell Stull, also preceded him in death.
He was a Christian for 49 years and a loyal and faithful member of Russell First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Caverna High School in Cave City, Ky., Pikeville College and Morehead State University. He was retired from the Russell Independent School District, where he served as teacher, principal and associate superintendent. He most recently retired from Helping Hands in Greenup County and served as a volunteer at CaReS and the Salvation Army.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine; his two sons, Larry C. (Sheri) and Garry P. (Christie); his seven grandchildren, Heather, Lori Beth, Garry, Michael, Jerod, Kyra and Clinton; a brother, Bill Holsinger (Daisy) of Cave City; and two special aunts, Ruby Fields of Ashland, Ky., and Juanita Williams of Pikeville, Ky.
Services will be at noon Friday, March 12, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Russell by Pastor Ken Gowin. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Carla Sue Kazee - 1962-2010
Carla Sue Kazee, 47, of Isonville, Ky., passed away Saturday evening, March 8, 2010, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
Ms. Kazee was born Sept. 16, 1962, in Boyd County, a daughter of Carl Kazee of Isonville and the late Myrtle Adkins Kazee. She was also preceded in death by a niece, Megan Ann Kazee.
Besides her father, she is survived by a brother, Mark Allen Kazee of Huntington, W.Va.; two sisters, Geraldine Kazee Harris of Sandy Hook, Ky., and Cindy Kazee O’Dell and husband Jeff of Frankfort, Ky.; three nephews, Mark Alexander Kazee, Drew Martin O’Dell and Chase Morgan O’Dell; a niece, Niki Harris; and a great-niece, Brittany Harris Dummitt.
Carla was of Christian faith and attended Sandy Hook United Methodist Church and Watson Enterprise Baptist Church.
She was employed for 27 years by the Elliott County Board of Education as a teacher’s aide.
Carla loved her family, friends and the children she worked with. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook by Brother Warren Vanover. Burial will be in Elliott County Memory Gardens.

Maxine Boykin - 1932-2010
Mrs. Maxine Boykin, 77, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
She was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Ironton, the daughter of the late William Loving Anderson and Dorothy Crockrell Anderson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Boykin; her grandmother, Amanda Crockrell Edwards; a brother, Kenneth Anderson; a sister, Patricia Young; and an aunt, Marian Loving.
Maxine was a devout Christian and a servant to humanity as she worked as a registered nurse for Lawrence County General Hospital for 39 years.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Boykin and his wife, Adrienne, of Chicago and Rodney Boykin and his wife, Phyllis, of South Point, Ohio; a daughter, Jami Sue Boykin of Ironton; five grandchildren, Corey Boykin, Justin Boykin, Mandi Boykin, Darrius Boykin and Kia Whitney; four great-grandchildren, Corey Boykin, Justin Boykin, Zion Boykin and Sheena Boykin; a brother, Vansel “Butch” Stephens; a sister, Dorothy Rhodes; an aunt, Angie Brown; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home in Ironton by the Rev. Doug Carter. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Virginia Roberta “Sis” Caudill, 71, of Mansfield, Ohio, formerly of Hitchins, died Saturday in Mansfield.
