Lenora Blanton
Lenora Blanton, 89, of Ashland, went home to the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; a daughter, Jackie; a son, Jim; parents Edgar and Rosina Scott; sisters Anna Mae, Rachel and Virginia (Bobbie); and brothers John Edward, George and Jerry.
She was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and retired from Heck’s Department Stores.
She is survived by her son, William Ison; sisters Violet Bullion, Alberta Vanover, Donna Curry and Nancy Fetters; brothers Thomas Scott and Darrell Mobley; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, W.Va.
Florence Lyons Thornsberry - 1941-2010
Florence Lyons Thornsberry, 68, of Sandy Hook, Ky., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday morning, Jan. 25, 2010, in Elliott County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sandy Hook.
She was born July 19, 1941, in Elliott County, Ky., a daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Mitchell Lyons.
Florence was a retired employee of the Life Care Center in Morehead, Ky., where she worked as a housekeeper, and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Oscar Thornsberry; a granddaughter, Olivia Dawn Simmons; two brothers, Arthur Lyons and Charles Lyons; a sister, Virgie Stephens; and a special friend, Lawrence Burton.
Her survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Roger Randolph and Angie and Jamie Simmons, all of Sandy Hook, and Fhonda and David Hitch of Morehead, Ky.; four granddaughters, Stacy and Scott Garvin of Argillite, Ky., Stephanie and Bill McGray of Sandy Hook, Tina and Jordan Combs of Winchester, Ky., and Keshia and Jonathon Conn of Morehead; five great-grandchildren, Ethan Garvin, Emilee Garvin, Kaitlyn McGray, Austin McGray and Sara McGray; a brother, Garner Garris of Olive Hill, Ky.; a sister, Ruby Cox of Olive Hill; and four sisters of her heart, Joan Lyons, Korene Gibson, Helen Lewis and Evelyn Wagoner, all of Sandy Hook.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook by Brother Ricky Lewis and Brother Dennis Rickey. Burial will be in the Lyons Family Cemetery on Kegley Ridge in Elliott County.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today and until services Thursday at the funeral home.
Michael Lyons, Junior Lyons, Jonathon Conn, Scott Garvin, Jordan Combs and Bill McGray will serve as pallbearers. Roger Randolph, Eugene Randolph, Jamie Simmons, David Hitch, Wayne Lyons and Rodrick Garris will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Dana Stephen Hartwig - 1946-2010
Dana Stephen Hartwig, 63, of Ironton, Ohio, died unexpectedly after a short illness.
He was born Sept. 23, 1946, in Ironton.
Dana is survived by a brother and sister-in-law and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bryan and Jo Ann Hartwig of Silverthorne, Colo., Jolynda and Walter Dingus of Burnside, Ky., and Nikki and Dick Clay of Ironton.
He is also survived by his aunt, Theda Webb of Ironton; several nieces; a nephew; other close relatives; and many good friends.
Dana was preceded in death by his mother and father, Virginia and Rom Hartwig.
A memorial wake for Dana will be at noon Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2101 S. Third St., Ironton.
Charles “Bud” Benard - 1940-2010
Charles “Bud” Benard, 69, of Deer Park, Texas, formerly of Catlettsburg, died Jan. 18.
He was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Fort Gay, W.Va.
His wife, Carrie Hulett Benard, survives.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

Gary M. Burroughs, 73, of Worthington, died Sunday in Florida.
His wife, Judy Hull Burroughs, survives.

Loren D. Holbrook, 79, of Olive Hill, died Tuesday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Mays Holbrook.

Danny Allen Bond, 57, of Olive Hill, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, died Tuesday.
He was born Sept. 30, 1952, in Carter County.
His wife, Sherry L. Tackett Bond, survives.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill. Burial will be in Vanhoose Cemetery in Olive Hill.
